1 million is still not off the table.
I hope something changes before that, but no one can predict how this will end.

Considering the number of states opening up and the number of people flocking back into public I'm fully expecting a big outbreak in the next couple weeks. Considering the best case scenario for a vaccine is still months away I would not be at all surprised to see 500,000. If it takes more than 18 months for a vaccine and people still keep acting like dumb jackasses and various states refuse to close then yes 1 million is still very much on the table. And of course worse case there is never a vaccine and we don't build up a long lasting immunity then who even knows where it could go.

I just read 3 articles about a month old basically saying 100,000 deaths is the high estimate for AUGUST.

People are definitely not taking this serious.

Yes a million is not off the table.

2020-05-25 6:20:21 AM
1 million to 3 million deaths in play now.

No vaccine and no lockdown and Republicans and Russia working together to make people angry about having to stay home.

Massive death, chaos, and misery is a feature, not a bug of the current "leaders" of our country

It's the new fashion trend. Wear a face mask around your neck but don't actually put it on.

Aren't people doing that in your neighborhood?

I keep seeing the claim that "originally" 1.5 to 2 million was the estimate, but the person making the claim doesn't bother to mention that was in we did absolutely nothing.

Has anyone projected the tally if we did decide to do something and just did it half-assed?

Cause that's where we are heading.

On a side note: since the Cadet has called this a war against an invisible enemy, will the fact that we will reach 100,000 dead on Memorial Day merit any special response from him? After all they died during a "war", right?

They're still supposed to listen, because that's what science farking IS. The difference is that now that we have a 24 hour news cycle to fill the scientists are forced to answer questions and write reports with incomplete information, so people hear the wrong parts much more than they used to.
