Probably not, because I don't generally deal with people coughing or spitting in my face. If anyone starts doing that I will reconsider my position.

N95 mask: protects your lungs. Also protects others' lungs from you unless it's one of the masks with an exhaust valve.

Other masks: slight protection for your lungs. Protects others by filtering any virus you might happen to exhale. Not perfect but they can help a lot if most people in the community are wearing something.

Face shield: protects your eyes from large droplets, and keeps crud off your N95 mask (particularly important if you're forced to re-use a "disposable" product).

No. I wear a mask to keep from spreading it to you. I rely on you to wear a mask to keep from spreading it to me.

If everyone wears a mask in public, there isn't a need for everyone to wear a face shield.

Can I use a social distancing longsword, too?

We will quickly be getting to far below 50% masking in a lot of the country, however.

The theoretical should not define how you deal with the actual.

Wear some glasses with your mask at least.

Helmet laws suck, right?

Just look around at Every one out there right now, that should have worn condoms. But did not.

All those open mouth breathing, ungloved, sticky hands touching everything. All those precious little miracles.

Trust no one.

Do not expose yourself.

It'd be easier to breathe in anyway.

Only if it comes with a power dome, coordinated mask while I play "Freedom from Choice" on a '80's vintage boombox.

Coming soon: You're wearing face shields. Will you wear a hazmat suit now? You really should.

I get you are being sarcastic or are an idiot but the benefits beyond a mask statistically decline pretty quickly unless you are at high risk of exposure.
but yes, to protect others I will do very inconvenient things.

What about ski goggles with a N95 mask

I work with chemicals.  I use a face shield.
Non-issue here...

If I have to, yes, but I'd feel like I was a walking salad bar.

I've still got my Mark V gas mask from my time on the USS BOHICA. Even with the old canisters I think it would work better than a face shield.

I also have the M-258 Skin Decontamination Kit.

I have obne just in case I need it but I haven't been around a lot of people shooting out fluids.

Good luck finding them.  I 3d printed some face shield frames and can't find the fronts for them as many people who have 3d printers have done the same and clear plastic sheets are almost impossible to find.

I have worn face shields at work for chemical splash protection. I hate them more than I hate masks. Not sure if it's because I'm small so they're all too big/heavy proportionally or if it's because I have long hair, but no matter how I tighten them, they seem to slip forward which then makes me tilt my head forward unconsciously, exacerbating the problem. Am not a fan.

I'm currently wearing masks but so is everyone else in my area because it's required by the state to enter a place of business.

I can't find it, but the other day I saw a news blurb about a study which looked at airflow with different types of masks and face shields.

The face shield (with not mask I think) showed air streaming out from underneath AND BEHIND, so do not get behind anyone with a face shield.

I haven't seen anyone wearing a face shield, but I don't get out much.

I've got one that I've used for protection while woodturning.  I've also been wearing it during my grocery trips for the past couple months.  It doesn't fog up my glasses and people can see my whole face.

I probably would if I could get a hold of one. I don't trust other people enough to protect me from themselves. I have been wearing a pair of sunglasses when I go out which isn't very often. I have some medical issues that put me at a higher risk of dying from the virus so I'd wear one in the hopes that I get to live longer. A lot of people aren't being the least bit conscientious of others where I live so I'll do what I can to mitigate my risk. I don't give a flying fark if others think I'm overreacting, I'd rather overreact and live.

If/when they become widely available to the general public I'll do a price comparison between them and the Harley Davidson sunglasses that come with a seal to keep out wind/air and buy whichever is more affordable between the two. I might just go ahead and get the HD sunglasses anyway. I'd have to check if the local HD dealer is open though.

Wasn't that a Doctor Who alien from one of the Peter Capaldi Christmas episodes?

Cut the bottom off a 2 liter soda bottle (any brand but Coca-Cola Company products, because those are shaped funny) and slit it up the side. That will yeild enough material for a face shield. You may want to cut the cap-end off too, and stretch it with a heat gun or add a support piece on the bottom as the sides do like to pull in on the cheeks.

And if you're feeling both crafty and a bit guilty about just recycling what's left over, you can take the bottle bottom, cut off a bit of each foot as a drain hole, and use it as a soap dish in your shower or by your sink. The possibilities for decoration only begin with a bit of glue and glitter!

This.

Face shields are a pain in the ass to wear and much more uncomfortable than a mask.
