Yeah, this. The only change I've seen is at work, a group home, where staff wear masks like they farking should.

THIS

Apparently I was doing everything right before it became cool.
Buying supplies in early February with my tax refund isn't hoarding - it's stockpiling.
Haven't run out of toilet paper yet. Who knew?

The sleep thing has been great. I have probably been getting a minimum of an extra hour in every night and I realized a couple of weeks ago that I feel well-rested on a sustained level for the first time in at least a decade.

Some weird, long involved dreams, too, which I am okay with.

Quality sleep in a better aligned cycle has made a world of difference for me also. No more having to creep around my house pre-dawn to get ready for school. Now, my teaching happens at 10am, after we've eaten breakfast as a family and I've gotten my kids started on their school work. I love not being perpetually sleep deprived.

This is true. Prior to the lockdown, I only drank socially and not very often. Now I drink all day every day and I've never felt better.

my sleep cycle has definitely changed. I wake up 3:30 - 5am.  also take afternoon naps.

I'm work-at-home so I can't really start much earlier than I did before all this started, but hoo-boy I've heard some stories from people about the resurgence of morning drinking.

Prior to electricity, when most people worked in agriculture or manual trades, what you describe was the norm.

One good thing that may come out of this crisis is that people will realize they don't have to kill themselves from working.  Advances in tech and the corresponding increases in productivity means we can afford to have a better leisure/work balance in life.  The one percenters who get a kick out of tormenting the rest of us will probably not agree.

We did not change a thing other than not being able to go to a few events we had planned.
We had a big Easter egg hunt with all the family (100+), we all went to moms on mothers day for dinner and we had 3 large parties at the lake (the largest we had 250 people there)  everyone here said we would all be dead of at least infected by now.  Guess what, no one got sick no no one died.
I was in Pigeon forge last weekend and last night.   The lines to get into a restaurant were very long.  I think I saw maybe 10 people with masks and they were being made fun of by people without them.
GA has been open for a few weeks.  People were saying that the state would have huge spikes in death and infections.  That did not happen.

The Virus may be real but the dangers of it are way over hyped by the media  just like the media overhypes hurricanes for florida   They want death but it is not happening this time.
Most the deaths reported from the china flu were people that were so sick they were going to die anyway.

I definitely changed a bit in some really weird, unexpected ways.

Shortly before the shutdowns (early March), I deleted my social media. I only recently returned to Fark, a site I enjoyed in the late 90s. I got sick of the algorithms, the conspiracy theories and the name calling.

During this time, I got sick and recovered from Covid, found time to enjoy a list of actual films and shows instead of viral videos, started getting my news only from the most straightforward non bias sites possible like Reuters and reading random articles about history, art and science on sites like Atlas Obscura and Nat Geo. I am enjoying humor blogs. More importantly, the people I have conversations with now are people I really care about and we have meaningful conversations that go beyond a sentence or two or a like on a meme.

In April my regular doctor added a medication to my daily that had a side effect of slight appetite suppressant. I'm not overweight so this inspired me to start looking at my nutrition a bit more to make sure I'm getting the most out of what I'm eating. As a result I've lost weight but not in a bad way. I'm staying active and walking more.

Perhaps the strangest thing is my style though. I've always been a goth/rockabilly girly girl. Up until the last month, I didn't even own pants aside from pjs or leggings. Over the quarantine and the weight loss, I've actually gained enough self esteem to wear a pair of jeans. I now have 3 pairs. I bought shorts. I found palazzo pants so cute I bought them in 3 colors. I'm sure there's men rolling their eyes at this but honestly, this is an enormous change for me. When I told my best friend I bought jeans she literally dropped her phone.

I'm not sure why. I just think after 2 1/2 months in isolation, focusing more on my health and getting news that seems to indicate that pretty much everyone on the planet is in the same situation I'm in, I'm starting to give less of a fark what people think. So maybe I don't need to look like a pinup Morticia doll every day. There's no law that says I can't mix it up.

I can't go crazy because of the kid and working from home. Beer consumption is up a little. The food is healthier, though, and I'm getting outside to work more so weight is down a little and I'm healthier.
I usually sleep more but the desire to binge watch is keeping me up a little.

Maybe it's different here but I can't even wrap my head around knowing 250 people well enough to invite them to a party. That just sounds farking exhausting even under non-pandemic circumstances.

Also, imagine making fun of people who are taking steps to try to prevent their snot and spit from getting on the vulnerable? Again, maybe I was just raised differently but I was always taught that if there's something really simple I could do to help others I should do it because it costs $0 to do the right thing. I've sneezed in stores and was glad my mask prevented droplets from getting on anything or anyone. I just think of masks as a fun fashion accessory now. I like seeing all the fabrics people use. It's exciting when you see people with masks repping your fandom or team. You can make it fun if you aren't miserable.

I feel a bit guilty about how much I'm enjoying quarantine.

I buy vegetables from a wholesaler who is selling to the public because restaurants are buying less, and try new recipes. I bake. I take walks with my wife and daughter. I've gotten the patio set up perfectly. I'm getting a lot of sleep. I'm saving money by not traveling or going out to eat. And the government decided to give me more money too. 🤷♂

/I've donated several hundred to food banks, and have an auto donation set up that will deposit my stimulus check to them over the next year.

i saw many of those 57%-ers down at the grocery store, and their mask-less kids schlumping around, with all of the pot bellied guys looking like if you mentioned a mask to them they'd pop you in the mouth. I think the stores around here need to start a no mask, no entry policy backed up by the cops. But, then again, I saw several police officers walking around with no masks.

The store owners could put a big dent in the Covid 19 pandemic if they started enforcing the mandatory mask rule inside.

Can't tell Americans anything! No wonder we're in so many wars.
