I can see why he hates mail in voting. He'll be crushed

If the 4% are two people, the rest of the party is 48 people.

No one is winning an election with 48 votes.

trump*s cult demands complete conformity to be pure.

Goddamn conservatives are such spineless toads.

Like a true dictator-wannabe, with (supposedly) 96% support, he's obsessed with the 4%.

Even Putin doesn't get those numbers.

Trump is fond of the phrase, "Many people are saying..."  And now we know, of course, where those many people are located.

THEY'RE IN YOUR farkING HEAD, DIPshiat!

But you don't know how many times each one will vote...

So what do you suppose republicans, the ones who actually believe what the party stood for pre-trump, are going to re brand as after this?

Either co-opt the Libertarian Party or Democrats split off a Liberal Party and "sane" conservatives move into the resulting Democratic Party.

3% of black people won't vote for Biden
4% of Republicans won't vote for Trump

SoupGuru: 3% of black people won't vote for Biden

So there isn't any fixing ~3.5% of the population?

On a planet dominated by rational thought, this is exactly what would happen. But this is Earth ... and it's the US. So, all bets are off.

It is because once you no longer support Trump you are no longer a Republican. They should change the name of the party to Trumpublican.

I assume those 4% are the ones thinking 'I was a Republican long before you were. I'm not leaving. YOU leave if you don't like it.'

2020-05-23 12:02:30 PM
Just like I said in the thread with the original tweet: "Gaslighting. Make them think they are crazy for not going along with everyone else in the party."

Maybe. I'll find that more believable when those Republicans publicity state they won't vote to re-elect Trump

We just need to strip them of power

Man, this asshole refuses to accept the possibility of someone being a true blue Republican and just not agreeing with him personally. I can never tell how much of this is due to his obvious psychological issues and how much is from a complete misunderstanding about how things like "party membership" works. Like he thinks it's 100% no questions asked fall into lockstep compliance.

96%(really 85%) of 35% of the whole  country means 30% of Americans claim they're Republican

Wow, who knew

I mean...hasn't that kind of been the Republican philosophy for quite some time now? At least since the Bush Jr days, anyhow. The Democrats are the party of innumerable competing ideas, and The Republicans generally are or are not (that's the whole reason the term "RINO" is now a thing that people use unironically). Their voting base much prefers binary states of existence.

He will have to make up the numbers to 97% to make himself feel like he is making progress against his own made up numbers.

But he is right in a way. The GOP has shown through its support of Trump that it certainly doesn't care about government waste, state rights, government over reach, the deficit, law and order, or any values besides I got mine so fark you, so if you're a Republican who still believes in those things you're a RINO

If and when, Trump*'s finances are exposed-even if it reveals only a small fraction of his grifting, the Republicans have an easy, easy way out: "this man does not have a lot of money. We can not associate with him." Every Republican I've ever known, is all about money. Pretty straight forward. They will re-group, hold a couple of mandatory meetings on being Republican and money, and back to business as usual. Being conservative pretty much precludes any need for change, or adapting to a changing world-other than having enough money to keep their fantasy world alive.

Guys, guys guys.   Why has nobody pointed out that the 96% is fake.  THERE IS NO POLL that say he has 96% support in the GOP.  A few months ago he cited a different non-existent poll that said 95%.  Last fall it was 94%.  Before that 93%.  Seriously.  His support is rising among non-existent respondents to non-existent polls, which technically is still within the margin of error of 100% (because it's non-existent, duh).

FTFY

By the way my formally Trump-loving 77 YO  mother who is about as hard-core R as they get, is actually withdrawn any vocal support for the man and has pulled back from any discussions of him. She's also criticizing the "hard right". Which blows me away. None of you are in my shoes To comprehend but it's like Fox News got suddenly silenced in her brain.

She is still somewhat racist, fearful, and still a bit of a jerk, but a lot of her thinking  got pulled waaaay back away from the frothing conspiracy stuff. I give her credit because she did approach me to ask advice about the entire pandemic and any news articles related to it, because she knows I work in the translational biology field.

For a lot of older people this pandemic is an existential crisis  with a very direct impact, and they can endanger themselves with conspiracy theories or survive by paying attention to the scientists whiee reasonable warnings go against the stupid and dangerous Trump messaging.

This does not bode well for Republicans overall because it means most of her friends have also turned...they're lemmings.
