Meh, distrust of the integrity of Chinese tech isn't the same thing. I don't trust Huawei either but not because think 5G causes COVID or any other Q bullshiat. I don't trust them because they are in bed with Xi's illiberal authoritarian govt..

hmm all u.s companies can and are made to obey the u.s government i don't recall the exact names of the "security order" but basically they have to do it and cant come clean that they are doing it or they get jailled or something.

it's probably the trade negotiations with the u.s, not sure why they would cave in to u.s wants like that messing up their economy during a economic crisis but bleh.

Truther?  You people dont really believe that Huawei hardware isn't being used to spy for the  Chinese government everywhere it's installed, do you?

Subby, the pejorative, "5G Truther" refers to a person who believes that radiation from 5G towers ("pizza boxes") will kill their bumblebees, make their children impotent and cause dogs to butt their heads against the ground repeatedly.

Someone who realizes the threat of communist Chinese technology buried within the devices is using common sense based on China's past behaviors.

If so, it's a poor one.

I used to play an online boxing game sim that at one point in the early aughts had a pretty decent sized player base for what it was. 5k people, nothing huge. But it was international and UK based player representation was solid in game play and the forums, which were pretty active and rowdy. A lot of us still check in 20 years later and talk mess and run an occasional boxer or ten.

Two of the longer tenured players from England morphed into trumpers in 2016. Currently they're on the Bill Gates 5G covid vaccine microchip thing. Legitimately. This isn't like fark where I don't know a soul, my grown kids were in diapers when we all started interacting. Not a chance they're some kind of bot because they run they same types of fighters and fights plans, and talk about any other game mechanics or history with too much fluency to be something than who they are.

It's baffling because as much as we all talked international shiat to each other, they were pretty level headed. I wasn't shocked to read bojo was into it, though it appears false. These guys are bojo types adamantly also.

I actually agree with him on this.  Huawei is required to share all their data with the Chinese government.  That includes all data transferred via their networks.  It is a national security nightmare.

Don't think Boris wouldn't embrace truther nuttiness if he thought it would help him.  Like any conservative, he will abandon any position if he believes it's in his interest. That he hasn't here only means it's not beneficial to him.  Yet.

Conservatives, wherever they are, are the enemy.

The difficult thing is that the existing companies are already stealing and sharing all the data they are transferring.  But they are just sharing it with marketing and analytics companies, not foreign governments.  Amazon and Facebook already know more about me than what I know about myself despite not being a customer.

Well all we have to do now is reverse all that outsourcing and move the production plants back to, uhh, where exactly?

Which country can be trusted not to spy? How about the USA LOL?

The western world probably should not be using any technology produced by companies that are beholden to China. To fix this would require a complete change to how we do manufacturing and would likely take years to get the infrastructure in place.

I'm not too worried about the Chinese spying on me. I have Kaspersky installed on all my devices to keep any government hackers from snooping around.

This makes sense. I wouldn't allow any critical infrastructure to be sourced from a hostile foreign adversary, especially one with China'a track record of DGAF.

I dont know how true it is, but I remember hearing that during the cold war, Poland bought a bunch of telephony infrastructure from Ma Bell. Being a patriotic organization they worked with US intelligence to install kill switches that could crash the country's communication infrastructure at the outbreak of hostilities. Do you think China would do any less?

I wonder if this isn't also a little bit of pushback on the recent Beijing actions on Hong Kong.  Huawei is tight with the government so oft-times actions against them get interpreted as actions against the Chinese government.

Like you said, he's not a COVID-19 5G conspiracy theorist.  This is happening though and the UK has had numerous cases of vandalism and arson of wireless infrastructure and harassment of telecom workers.  It is a serious in Europe with some incidents in Canada and the US.

This is unrelated.

Uh, you realize that they are the fourth Five Eyes member to have banned/restricted Huawei from their 5G network infrastructure already, right?

Canada, the only remaining member that hasn't acted, is likely to join eventually as they're having their own fight with China over Huawei right now, but Trudeau has been coy so far other than saying they'll make their own choice on their own time.

Huawei has proven they cannot be trusted by being caught conducting corporate espionage over and over and over again while stealing and using others IP whenever they can.  Injecting them into core future infrastructure is a ridiculous idea

In America, corporations have been given great scope for exercising unaccountable power. In many, many ways governments have been told by court precedents and laws that they have no right to interfere in the decisions that private corporations make.

In China, it is very different. Each and every business concern is directed in all their activities by the Chinese Communist Party, and woe betide any company director there who steps out of line.
