This week's episode had the best explanation I've ever seen for Internet trolling.

/I wonder what Colin Robinson's 20 Fark handles are

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has been on FX a lot longer than three seasons.

/actually hasn't been all the great lately

Hulu. It's hilarious. It's basically The Office meets absurd vampire tropes

Yesssss,

Probably too soon for a return of Jackie Daytona but maybe in the 4th or 5th sesson.

I haven't seen an episode because I saw the movie, and never laughed once. I smiled a few times but that's as close as I got. It's just not a funny movie so I'm not rushing in to see the series version.
Yes, I'm terribly edgy, so save the memes.

This season is a masterclass in comedy writing. Gizmo and the vampire hunters, Colin Robinson's promotion and online trolling, Jackie Daytona vs Jim the vampire (Mark farking Hamill!), the return of the cursed hat... Every episode has been hilarious.

Very first episode they do after the Pandemic, they should have the vampires discover that they can get Covid because it comes from bats, with the stipulation that this is a first.  And then have the vampires freaking out and doing the whole social distancing thing completely wrong.

That's close to what I recall of my experience watching the movie. I barely even remember it. My favorite part had something to do with the old vampire and my recollection of what it was is hazy at best. Although, finding something that's even somewhat entertaining is difficult so I gave the show a shot based on that rather tepid opinion of the film and I'm glad I did. It gets downright hilarious at times.

IMO, the series is funnier than the movie.  I liked the movie, but I love the series.

The humor in the TV series isn't as dry as the movie (which I liked but didn't love).  It helps I think that the actors are just as much a part of the humor as the writing (Matt Berry is a master at comedic timing and delivery and the others hold their own with him)

The casting for the series is phenomenal. There's a lot of great stunt casting in the supporting and guest roles (Jim the Vampire!) but the core group is exceptional

It's "stunt casting", sure, but the people they cast are good at the roles.  I mean, Mark Hamill was great as Jim The Vampire a couple of weeks ago.   And it didn't feel like they cast him to say, "Hey, it's Luke Skywalker, everyone!"

I thought the movie had potential but didn't live up to it. The series lives up to it. It's on our "must watch as soon as possible" list. Some shows can sit in the DVR for a week or more, but we look forward to this one airing.

Based on the movie, I wasn't the least bit interested in the series.  Based on the comments here, I'll give it a shot.

I liked Toast of London but it might not be everyone's cup of tea.  There was a series with Rich Fulcher where they were hangmen that was just surreal though.

The aforementioned SnuffBox.

And if you haven't seen Darkplace, you need to. It's a send-up of Steven King/Clive Barker horror and early 80's British Sci-Fi cheese.

Yes, that must be it. Thanks for nailing that down for me! But I see others here that have the same opinion about the movie. You, on the other hand... edge city.

Around the same time I saw What We Do, I saw this movie from Belgium called simply "Vampires" that had the same premise; mockumentary about a house full of vampires. But I thought it was much funnier. This trailer doesn't do it justice, though, but it's the only one I could find.

That's come up here before, I'd love to check it out, but I think it's still (legally) unavailable in the US.  Which is kind of hard to believe now that Waititi is huge.  Hunt for the Wilderpeople (hilarious) has even been available on Hulu for a long time

Heh.

Earlier today, I learned that the actor who plays Colin was also on The Office.  And it's safe to assume that the character was probably very similar.
