Aw hell nah. Even if I were a pro thief I'd want nothing to do with that account. There's no telling what I'd be getting into. Russians, for example.

Someone here on Fark has pointed out that Trump can't donate directly to a department like that.  It has to go through Congress. It is just an empty gesture, nothing more.

Above and beyond the stupidity of showing the check and my disbelief that he is actually "donating"  his salary - Why is he still getting a paper check and not using direct deposit?

But yes - you can't earmark it for a specific department.

Where is the cancelled check? Do they still do that? I'm living in the cashless future.

But isn't this the same routing number as the one on my "Trump check"?

The reason why he does this is because if he claims the money it would open up his finances to public scrutiny. He doesn't want to do that so donating it (ie: declaring a government income as $0) keeps his books private.

At least, that's my theory.

Why would being paid his normal salary "open his finances up to public scrutiny"

He's been donating ALL of his paychecks? One of us is confused. It might be me but I'm doubtful.

I'm sure there are people in China/Russia/India who really give a shiat.

That was obviously posted for "special interest groups" to "donate".
In other words, Russian puppet gets paid for four more years of doing this shiat.

So he's reminding people of his promise to refuse his pay?  Or, is this a new paycheck he's donating?  Double dipping promises...

This is like claiming that you can withdrawal from my account because you know where the nearest branch is. A routing number is not personally identifying information. It's the bank's electronic address and is on the check of every single person who banks there.

It astounds me that as the richest nation on earth Americans are so dumb about how basic finances work.

Because his base has a median age of 134 and haven't even heard of direct deposit. Same reason why they kept smugly snarking about how we shouldn't "cash that $1,200 check" if he's not our president.

Sure but it's not the same one for every person who banks there. In all honesty there's very little you can do to protect yourself from a determined fraudster. Your account and routing number are on every check. Your card numbers can be read, either physically, or by a scanner everytime you use it. The CVV number (on the back) is even  easy to get. The main protection is insurance/liability protection that protects you from being responsible and electronic monitoring that uses machine learning to determine if the purchase matches your established profile.

And, of course, he's lying and she's lying.

You CANNOT give money to any part of the Federal Government. All such checks are returned undeposited. You can give money to the Federal Government as a whole, or to reduce the public debt. You can find out how online if you're so inclined.

He's writing them to departments because he's counting on you not knowing this. The checks are returned uncashed. He then just keeps the money, and people who are unaware of the law or just farking stupid enough to believe that Impeached President Donald John Trump would give away money think that he's donated his salary.

It's a lie, and the fact that the sheep in the press pool don't call him on is part of the reason why we're in this hell.

Can someone just pop in and take a screenshot of his bank account? Maybe publish it? And then disappear.
