So when the Washtenaw county board said don't come, he just showed up.
Now when he's told he's not welcome, he has to say something about it.
Gee I wonder what the difference is?

Fine. Then just refuse to provide any city resources for his visit. Let the White House handle all of it. Don't spend the city's money on it.

Send out cops in riot gear.
Arrest anyone attending.

Anyone

So, find an obscure law that gives you the authority to hold him at the airport for 18 hours. He'll leave on his own.

Definitely.  Trump always stiffs cities and states when they bill his campaign for the extra security they have to provide anyway.  He's a cheapskate.

This is just another campaign stop, anyway.  Everywhere Trump has gone since January 21, 2017 has been a campaign function for him.  Everywhere.

Donnie should have to at least post a cash bond for likely costs. He skips out on the bill otherwise and it would encourage other cities to adopt the same.

I don't want him here... BUT Fort McHenry is owned by the National Park Service, not the City of Baltimore. Asshat doesn't need permission.

(I live about a mile from the fort. It's a great place for a picnic, but it's been closed since March. Though it seems the rules don't apply to Donnie Bonespurs. Grrrr.)

The only positive is whatever speech Trump gives, he'll totally fark up discussing the War of 1812.

This is the best idea. Just protect the surrounding areas from rally spillover and enforce laws.

So let him go wherever he wants. Just don't do anything to facilitate it. No street closures, no traffic or crowd control, no motorcade escort, no extra cops. Let him visit like any other citizen and see how he likes it.

People staying at home are making sacrifices to fight the virus. He wants people to sacrifice themselves to fight a war against the economic cost of it all.

No put cops in medical suits and offer him a YUUGGGEEEE! rally. Don't forget to include signs like "MASKS = SLAVERY!", "SOCIAL DISTANCING = COMMUNISM!", and so on. Encourage them to pray, shake hands, hug, et al., and invite the other (state) Rethuglican leaders as well. Like the President said repeatedly, it's just the flu. Take some zinc and hydroxychloroquine if you're worried.

No motorcade to deal with this time, fortunately. He's gonna fly in. Marine One and a couple of Ospreys were circling around the place yesterday. Security is probably pretty simple for this one because it's, y'know... a fort.

Or, you know, put a couple of cops out front to let everyone know the monument is closed and arrest him for trespassing when he ignores their order. Fun fact - there's actually historical precedent for the president being stopped and held by local PD! I believe McKinley got a speeding ticket in DC, though it may have been a different Prez.

This is what Fits should have done on the factory tour - "Sorry, Mr. President - you don't want to follow the rules, you can hold your press conference on the side of the road off of our property." Damnit, people, grow some god damned balls.

It's worse this time around. His campaign doesn't owe anything. This is a "presidential visit" not a campaign stop (same difference). Which means that you, me, and everyone else in the US gets to pay for it. However, I would rather have the feds pay for it instead of cities. Considering the "you are on your own" approach Trump has taken I think it is fair.

Probably the venue itself is privately owned.

They can cite the owner and fine everyone who shows up for violating gathering limits if they have those laws, though.  And just assign all the cops who'd have been on guard duty to go around issuing citations and traffic/parking tickets to everyone that say instead.  Basically the reason you have to contract with the city is that events of this size produce a bunch of trash, traffic, load on utilities and police/fire/medical services, etc, anyway, no reason they can't get it back one person at a time.

It should only be allowed to count as a "presidential visit" if he can spend his time honoring all the men and women who have died in this country's name without bragging about himself or whining about he and his motherfarking bonespurs are being abused by the Deep State and the Libs. Basically, no grandstanding allowed.

As a former resident of the city with family, friends, and acquaintances still there, many of them are his supporters and will forego reason to be there if they can, sadly.  It would be a shame if it rained.

In the city? No. But in the surrounding county...

The hilarious part is that city government hasn't lifted the lockdown yet, so all the county assholes are staying away because there's nothing for them do do.

Be a real shame if a report of a waterman leak was reported that morning and they had to send a team out to slowly investigate. You'd probably have to close the highways down just to be safe. Chris Christie shut things down and that seemed to work just fine for everybody. Oh, he's Republican nevermind it's okay for them
