She should just say every book was written in the various gay bars she knows about. I've long since grow out of being outraged over those tweets, but the reactions are gold.

It's fitting that "Rock" rhymes with "Cock" and "Block".

Aren't we supposed to hate JKR this week, because she's terf-adjacent or some such thing?

JKR has ret-conned so much of her own stuff it is insane, and I found myself cheering when Snape finally offed Dumbledore, because Dumbledore was in serious need of getting offed long before then. Hell, I was half-expecting Harry Potter to off Dumbledore himself for trying to get Harry killed every year Harry was in Hogwarts. Hating JKR is too easy.

I think this is something her publicist tells her to do every so often, to ensure the franchise is kept in the news and the books and movies and shirts and coffee mugs keep selling at an even pace. There is a whole commercial industry that relies on her staying relevant (which she probably does not much care for).

But decades after the series has been completed she's running out of ideas and is just blurting out stuff about who's gay and who's parents were whom and other nonsense. Her handlers won't let her retire in peace.

Alas, earwax.

The news came after a fan posted a picture on Twitter of the Elephant House, a coffee shop in Edinburgh which on its website describes itself as the place "made famous as the place of inspiration to writers such as J.K. Rowling, who sat writing much of her early novels in the back room overlooking Edinburgh Castle."

Yeah, so she still wrote some of the novel there? What's the farking problem here? They say that she wrote "much" of it, not "all".

She's either too woke or not enough, she's evidently built the core of fans to hate her in some sort of poetic irony, and everyone has their own Draco in Leather Pants Furry Twincest Headcanon that she's totally invalidating their whole lives because she likes mean tweets

Thank the Valar Professor Tolkien didn't live today as he would probably be goaded into making some pretty unsavory statements

WHAT??!??!? She's terf-adjacent???

I hate her for exposing my ignorance of what that means!

Wasn't half the point of the appendix in the Return of the King being forced to retcon/plot hole in his mistakes from the first printing of LOTR and the Hobbit into canon consistency? All the readings from his son has been more of a joyful annoyance than anything he really wanted to accomplish in his writings.

It seems more like trying to jam in a kids story into an adult theme is a complicated business. For Tolkien and Rowling alike.

Like orcs and goblins, what Gandalf was really up to, and what Gollum was doing in between books.

TERF is an acronym, Trans-Exclusionary Radical(?) Feminist (fark it, I got at least three of the words, close enough).  It means that you think that in at least some cases trans women should not be eligible for assistance or irregular access when that assistance is intended to mitigate institutional discrimination against women, which trans women for obvious reasons may or may not have actually been subject to given that they were men at some point legally.

If you're thinking "that sounds like a very case by case thing and no one could possibly be entirely for or against that as a blanket rule, how is this even an argument people are having at that level of generality", the answer is that JK Rowling's fanbase is basically composed of the stereotypes that come to mind if I say "Tumblr".  Like... intentionally that's the mindset she cultivates in her contacts with fans so she can keep making money from them, that sort of weird performative wokeness without actually understanding what the issues to be woke about are.  Basically it was only a matter of time until that sort of turned around and bit her, she'd been digging that hole for a while now.

I think the specific thing that got her in this stupid internet slap-fight was a comment about how trans women shouldn't be allowed into women's sports or something, I recall that the comment actually was kind of insensitive but also about something no one actually gives a shiat about, in any case.

And now you know!  ... a thing that there is no value whatsoever in knowing, but you're welcome!

It was pretty depressing listening to the Mugglecast episode in January with an interview from a trans person who explained the situation and basically said that Rowling being an ally was a total lie and that no one decent should read or enjoy any of the books. Furthermore it was stressed that basically no apology could or would be accepted.
Considering Rowling's work for acceptance and what the characters mean to a lot of people this is awfully strong

Gross, dude. Fantasize about having sexy time on top of a pile of her bank statements instead. Money is filthy and coated in germs.
