Is there anybody in this administration, or at the CDC, who knows what the fark they're doing?

I mean, I know an organization rots from the top down, but I had hoped that would be contained to Washington.  Now, even the farking CDC can't get their shiat together?  Fark!

Lying, cheating, or incompetent? In Typhoid Trump's world, they all blend together.

There are plenty. Tony Fauci, for one. But, like a football team run by Denny Green or Romeo Crennell or Marty Schottenheimer, you need leadership.

Tom Brady wouldn't have fifteen rings if Andy Reid was running the Patriots' clock, and Springtime for Hitler would have been forgotten if not for the visionary plan of Bialystock & Bloom.

The CDC, much like the country, is suffering at the hand of utterly incompetent leadership.

Not really. The most likely outcome is that reported infection rates are actually lower.

They have economists making epidemiological assessments. ECONOMISTS, of all farking things.

If I wanted to use a RNG with a non-reproducable seed, I'd just ask fifteen different economists to assess the cost of milk.

Marcus Aurelius: The CDC, much like the country, is suffering at the hand of utterly incompetent leadership.

When Trump was elected political leaders flooded into all the non-political groups in the federal government and screwed them up.  It went beyond just being Republicans... these were heavily ideological pro-corporate cronies.

The book "The Fifth Risk" by Michael Lewis does a great job at documenting this.  It especially focuses on NOAA, but the takeover happened in many areas:

https://www.amazon.com/Fifth-Risk-Michael-Lewis/dp/1324002646

Given what we have seen with the CDC there are still big fights between the people who want ideologically driven science and the long time non-political staff.

It seems like the decision to re-open wasn't science-based, but necessity. It was kind of at the point where they either filled the jails with protestors or approved more overtime for frontline staff.

Trump's press goblin said the other day that his science experts have to be in lockstep with everything the president says.  So they're chosen for their sycophancy, not their expertise in science.  Nothing ever done by this administration was science-based.

Interesting use of the word "necessity" here.  Necessity to whom and for what reasons.  People crowing about the "need" to reopen everything are talking from the economics standpoint.  The arguments coming from that corner seem to be coming from a point of view that is intentionally limited.  First, the economy should be serving the people, not the people serving the economy.  Most people in the USA believe the former because we are conditioned that it is "common sense" or some other such nonsense.  And every other first world nation is working to take care of its people while the world goes through this. We are just letting the government make token efforts.  Again.. conditioning of our people.  We are being taught that harsh capitalism is "common sense" while every other western democracy proves that it isn't wrong.  As with most of the last 40 years most people are seeing the world through a very narrow lens and just dismiss what the rest of the world is doing to help ease the problems of extreme capitalism.

No.
If you mean that combining the test means they are reporting a higher infection rate than the actual, that would only be true if the infection rate is decreasing.
Then you'll pick up more positives that aren't active, making it seem worse than it is.

But...

If the infection rate is sharply increasing, the you may not see it at first, because people who just got infected take a few weeks before they are positive in the serology test. So you pick up too few positives, making it seem better than it is.

So the kind of error depends on where you are in the epidemic infection curve. Itsjust really stupid of CDC to do that.

Science can be complicated.

I trusted the CDC completely at the beginning but Trump and cronies have succeeded in polluting the waters there so now I'm not sure. So again, Trump and cronies' focus on destroying trust in government have succeeded, this time with me.

THAT'S THE POINT

Republicans believe that government doesn't work.  So when people elect them they prove it by intentionally harming the reliability of government institutions

Trump administration blaming other parts of the administration while simultaneously claiming to have done a great job.

Everything is going super and it is not our fault.  It is our fault but not my fault.  Everything is going super.  Don't look at me - it is those f$ckers who work for me that f$cked up.  Also, Ghina who convinced me they were telling the truth.  Those f$ckers.  Also, Obama did not warn us strong enough and stopped helping when I took over.

Gina has it under control and they lied to us, but they did a great job, and now we're containing it and it will go away, but those Democratic governors are farking up and it's spread everywhere.  I wouldn't do anything different and I take no responsibility.

Some people know exactly what they are doing -- unfortunately their instructions are "make the numbers look better by whatever means necessary, or the president will have our heads!"

/"Don't attribute to malice that which can adequately be explained by incompetence" doesn't always apply under republican leadership.

You have to look at in on a per capita basis but relative to what?  That's fine to look at it per capita but what about looking at how big the US is.  You have to think about that too.  Very very big country with a big population.  Don't forget that when you are look at the per capitas.

He couldn't hack a stapler.  He'd have Barron do it, then bill the White House $30,000 for IT support, keep $25K for his administrative efforts, and put $5K in a college account for Barron that he'll loot late next January before he "moves" to Riyadh.  Riyadh has better golf than Moscow.

Is there anyone in government not working in Trump's re-election campaign?

2020-05-22 3:52:24 PM
That would explain why the numbers don't reflect the way the virus seems to work. Everything qualitative about the virus suggests it is worse than the quantitative measurements describe. I thought it was lack of testing. The CDC is so magical that it found a way to make the testing just as obfuscating as not-testing.
