The funds should certainly report to investors any material changes to the management/analyst team. They don't need to state the cause. They can say "out on medical leave until further notice," or something to that effect.

I don't know about the UK, but in the US, HIPAA becomes a very real compliance concern when talking about an individual's health status.

I'm pretty sure that prior to the last few months fund managers weren't immortal.  Do whatever you did for any other health issue.
