naughtyrev: Pretty good list.

If you ignore the fact that "Bad" didn't crack the top 15 and the fact that most people of a certain age (I am one) recall two things distinctly about live aid.

Queen and U2 performing Bad.  The song is that iconic.

Not calling this the worst attempt at a top 40 U2 list but, they put LEMON in the top 15.  It barely makes the top 15 on the album Zooropa and there is only 10 tracks on that album.

No 'One Tree Hill'?

That list sucks, as they say around here.

Bullet the Blue Sky way too low.

Also where the hell is Red Hill Mining Town?  It's the song where Bono first makes the political personal.  Also it's a great farking song (even if he can't sing it live)

Disagree completely. Lemon is one of my favorite U2 songs. Deserved to be higher.

Glad to see Unforgettable Fire, One, and All I Want is You ranked so high.

Out of ones not on the list, I am a huge fan of the previously mentioned A Sort of Homecoming, 40, Elvis Presley and America, and Wild Horses.

I agree Sub. Same song, 40 times. Nicely done.

Pride and New Year's Day are too low, but at least they got #1 right.

/Also pleasantly surprised to see The Unforgettable Fire in the Top 10.

True. And amazingly, as mentioned, the band was pissed at Bono because they thought he'd blown it. They thought they bombed and the band would be finished after he went off stage and spent five minutes helping a girl who was being crushed. The band couldn't see him and had no idea what was going on so they just carried on playing. They had a huge row after coming off stage and almost broke up there and then.

/Bono owns a shopping mall in Lithuania. I spent an hour walking around the place, but I still couldn't find what I was looking for.

I thought the Wanderer with Johnny Cash deserves more love, even if that siren comes on at the very end of the track.  And the entire Achtung album should be on that list.

I'm a huge, huge, HUGE U2 fan and....that list sucks.  some really dreck songs are super high and some great songs massively underrated, by that list.  "A Sort Of Homecoming", as noted here, is probably a top 30 song and didn't make it, period?

An Caht Dubh?
Magnificent?
Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own at 13?  No way.  That song blows.
A Man And a Woman?

terrible list.

Pride is way way way too low. (should be top 10)
The Electric Co. and Bullet the Blue Sky are too low (should be top 15)
New Years Day should be top 10.
Mysterious Ways is way too high. It isn't top ten material.
They did nail #1.

One at number 2 is wrong it should be number 1 not #2 but who does number two work for?

Actung Baby is such a good album and the album cover and the videos make me very nostalgic. I haven't listened to it in years I think I will remedy that this afternoon.

I would have put "When Love Comes to Town" in their somewhere, although I don't know if that's U2 featuring B. B. King, or it's B. B. King featuring U2.  Wikipedia says the former, other sources the latter.  Oh, well... great song.

The studio version of Bad is kinda meh, especially now that they've perfected the live version of it.

A Sort of Homecoming is my all-time favorite U2 song.

My 10-year-old daughter's favorite U2 song is The Crystal Ballroom

UB40's first couple of albums from 1980-1982, before they sold out , are amazing. A unique and original sound, politically engaged lyrics. 'Signing Off' is still one of my favorite albums of all time.

My favorite U2 song is still Gloria, probably more out of nostalgic reasons, I listened to 'Under a blood red sky' so many times when I was young.  But I still prefer the older, more powerful and punky U2 over the musically better, but more poppy, later U2.

Pretty good list. I don't always listen to U2, but when I do, I make sure to spin Raised By Wolves and In God's Country. They're both in my top 40 anyway.

I like 1 & 2 where they are and maybehmaybe would switch 3 & 4. I've heard a lot of the songs live it's a different experience.

The anniversary your for Joshua Tree was pretty spectacular.

Folks:  I have a pretty decent live recording library for U2, shows as far back as 1981 (soundboard recordings, at that) up through 2018 (including my own las vegas 5/11/18 recording I made, came out pretty farking good if i say so myself).

If anyone's interested, email me and we can arrange a trade. MizzouGuy and i did this a few years back, he can vouch (if he wants) for how painless this is.
