I am still trying to figure out what exactly this scandal is about? That the FBI and other agencies were concerned when the Trump campaign took money from foreign agencies? That he took money from foreign nationals? When his campaign solicited funds from leaders of foreign governments? Because, these are all things that, yeah, the Obama Administration should have acted upon.

I am just curious why the GOP is clamoring essentially to clearly delineate how Trump's Presidency is illegitimate and that the RNC was complicit with these actions. It seems...well, it seems awfully close to shooting themselves right in the foot.

Rember the imaginary Hillary emails crimes and the invisible crime media wave before the election? Remember how that turned out?

That's what this is about.

I am not certain that the Trumpian Flesh Golems running his little attempt at government have thought this through.

If they manage to strip a former president of any and all protections and legacy, just to appease The Orange shiat-Gibbon's ego, they are leaving their master open to the same.  Even if The Incest Lover in Chief manages by some miracle or via fraud to be re-elected he will still be out of office at some point, provided the constitution has not been suspended and he makes himself dictator for life.

Can I say that I hate the fact that we are talking about this at all?  The most that should have occurred is a bunch reporters pointing and laughing. Literally that is what I wanted to happen, confused stares follow raucous laughter during the press conference.

The insidious thing about "Obamagate" is that, at its core, it's Trump continuing to deny that election interference ever happened by casting shade on the preventative steps the previous administration took.

Correction there were emails, there were violations of protocol. That was legitimate, the hype was just stoopid. This doesn't even have the legitimacy of accusing obama of jay walking. So not even something you can cite.

Oh, come on.  You know the answer.

The scandal is that there are still people in government in areas of responsibility that are not willing to lick dogshiat off the bottom of Trump's shoe.   The smoking-gun evidence of this is that they once worked there while Obama was in office.

Barr should be investigated for carrying out Trump's orders to obstruct justice when the Mueller Report was released.

The controversy over the notes contributed to Attorney General William Barr's contentious decision to drop charges against Flynn, despite his guilty plea.

No, it didn't. It just gave him the semblance of an excuse.

I like to think of it more like he's trying to double-jump his scandal, being like "well, yeah, my guy got caught moonlighting for another country... But you investigated my guy! Who's the REAL corruption here, huh?!"

Donald Trump can't even pull off the first jump.

If no one can figure out what the scandal is about they can't refute it. So they rely on "oh, he knows what he did!" Apparently that works on some people, especially those who always thought there was something fishy about that Obama character.

I am just curious why the GOP is clamoring essentially to clearly delineate how Trump's Presidency is illegitimate and that the RNC was complicit with these actions. It seems...well, it seems awfully close to shooting themselves right in the foot.

Here are some of the people Trump put around himself for the 2016 campaign.

- Paul Manafort (campaign manager) and Rick Gates (deputy campaign manager and the person who ran the convention) became millionaires thanks to their work helping to support pro-Russian politicians in Ukraine.
- Michael Flynn (campaign advisor who was picked to be National Security Adviser) was being paid over half a million dollars by the government of Turkey to push Turkish interests in the U.S.
- George Papadopoulos (campaign advisor) drunkenly bragged to a Australian diplomat about how the Russians had dirt on Hillary.
- Roger Stone (campaign adviser) who was working to communicate with Wikileaks.
- Trump Jr (senior campaign official) who eagerly took a meeting he thought was with Russian government officials promising to help the Trump campaign, met with envoys of the U.A.E. and Saudi Arabia who relayed the desire of those countries to help Trump win, and also directly communicated with Wikileaks.
- Carter Page (campaign adviser) who loved to publicly brag about his deep connections to people high up in the Russian government (it turns out this was more delusion on his part).

The conspiracy goes like this: the FBI caught wind of these people who were either paid shills for foreign governments or were eagerly soliciting help from foreign governments or were bragging about their foreign connections.  The Obama Administration approved keeping an eye on things because any number of them looked like national security risks.  Hell, Manafort had to quit the campaign when the press started sniffing around to ask where he got all of his money.

The second step of the FBI's conspiracy to hurt Trump was nothing about these investigations was made public until after the election was over.  Not only that, but the FBI decided to seriously hurt Trump by letting the world know about Hillary's e-mail problems right before the election.

To sum up Obamagate, the plan was to have the FBI help Trump get elected so they could then take part in Trump being impeached but not removed from office.

They are playing the rubes. There is no scandal. He just has to say there's one and his lickspittle morons fall in line. He could say anything, literally anything, and every Trumper from congressman to trailer park dweller will repeat it as the gospel truth. The Earth is flat and dragons will eat you if you get too close to the edge...sure, why not?

As for Wray. No sympathy here. He signed up to head the FBI when his predecessor was fired for not ending investigations into Trump. He stood by while Barr undermines the DOJ.

He made his bed and he can sleep in it.

They know they can do it because the Justice Department is a sham, the courts are stacked, Mitch McConnell is in charge of oversight, and Fox news is providing plenty of cover.

Being corrupt has never been easier, so why not do it out in the open? You can steal a whole lot more when you're not trying to be sneaky about it. A significant percentage of the country even APPROVES of it. Why the fark not? Burn the whole farker down, right? It's a damn sight better than admitting you were wrong and that you made bad choices and are a poor judge of character.

GOP outrage about things is very flexible.

It's complex and no one has been able to trace down all the key variables to understand it. Guess it's just going to remain a mystery.

Put aside for a moment that the only purpose of this whole dance is to come up with some vague negtive cloud of feeling that can be used to smear Biden in the election. Divorced from facts, just this catchall "you know what the crime is" fever dream bullshiat.
Put that aside.

Trump is publicly launching an investigation into his political opponent (and likely successor).
Isn't that what the supposed Obamaghazi was about?
