Is Trump Pappy O'Daniel or Homer Stokes? Pappy is less racist, but more corrupt

As the incumbent?

Well, the MAGAts will fall for it.  Again.  But I don't see it influencing anyone else.

Heh, the one time you really can say "both sides are bad".

And maybe "Fark Trump and the Trump he rode in on," but I'm not so sure about that one. I don't think Trump could carry a whole Trump. Or ride one, either.

Hypocrisy is a feature within the GOP. They thrive on it.

If enough people buy the idea that nothing is ever Trump's fault, yeah, that'll work.

This isn't even new.  Mitch McConnell trots out every six years and declares he is a political virgin and the homers eat that shiat up with a spoon.

Well, it's not like Biden is putting up any of a challenge.

The real test is to see if we repeat the process.

When I saw the headline I thought it was just going to be taking Trump's pre-2016 tweets targeting Obama and seeing how they apply to his (Trump's) actions.

Spoiler: he's guilty of everything he accused Obama of, and more.

Mouser: Well, it's not like Biden is putting up any of a challenge.

Biden is up 11 nationally with solid leads in a LOT of important swing states...never interrupt an enemy when he's making a mistake (or a never ending string of them).

I hope one of them is Trump and the other is an anti-Trump, so that they annihilate each other.

Would make for a good attack add to show the swamp draining and exposing everyone he's hired.

This is just crazy enough to highlight to his followers that he is actually quite incompetent and demoralize them so they don't show up at the polls.

They're both Trump, which is why they repel each other.

His staff thought this was great until Trump broke away from Trump completely, ran third party against Trump and split the Trump vote.

He is already.  And it's working on the only people it ever worked on.

Every single politician for the last 40 years has cast himself as an "outsider" and made a play for "outsider anger."  Yes, even the ones who also ran as establishment candidate at the same time.  The current cultural obsession with the "rebel outsider grassroots hero" has always been a lie.

What do you think Biden's Amtrak rides and folksy charm were?  What the hell was Corn Pop?  It's all the "I am normal, not Washington elite" stories and it's all lies.

And the dumbest morons are the ones the lie works best on.  The Trumpers.

meat0918: This is just crazy enough to highlight to his followers that he is actually quite incompetent and demoralize them so they don't show up at the polls.

I don't think so. A key component of his followers is that they've bought in wholly to the lie that he's a victim of circumstance and external powers and they've wrapped themselves in a bubble of Fox News and Facebook bullshiat that ensure they're never told anything else.

I don't think DJT is going to see a significant drop in his popular vote numbers. Anybody with any integrity and intellect could see who he was in 2016 and knew then that you had to be a psychotic fanatic to support him. The real test is whether or not he pisses off enough people and/or Biden inspires enough people to actually get up off their asses and vote this time.

If Biden wins, it won't be because Trump lost a ton of support. He'll either have to earn it, or ride a wave of disgust against Donny.

We need to institute the permanent revolution.  The in-system opposition to the revolution can never be complete.

I would expect his popular vote numbers to change significantly. In 2016, a huge number of people voted for Trump for the "novelty factor" (for lack of a better term). They weren't bad people per se, just uninformed. The "I don't follow politics" or "politics is boring" crowds.

But now that things have changed and lives are actually affected (being with COVID-19 or unemployment or whatever), people will vote. The ineptitude of this administration has reached the common man.

Mouser: Well, it's not like Biden is putting up any of a challenge.

He's ahead in swing state polling and has an 11 point lead nationally. I think "never interrupt your opponent when he's making a mistake" is in full effect. Trump is hanging an anvil around his own neck right now. He's too stupid to shut the fark up and handle his business. Trump thinks he can hand wave a pandemic away. This virus doesn't care about kissing his ass, therefore it's not important.

I'd wager we see exactly that. My church does voter registration before every election, and since 2017 we've had more people in terms of raw numbers and per capita with the overall town population than any year on record (going back to the 80s).

Michigan went blue by 11 thousand votes out of millions. I wager that doesn't happen again.

If you really sit back and think about it, it's all Hillary's fault for losing to Trump. Everything that has happened in the last 3 1/2 years has been her fault for losing to him. Ergo the way to punish her for how bad things are is to reelect him to really stick it to her.

I can't remember a time when both parties primary opponent was their own record.

I don't even vote for the lesser of two evils, I vote for the guy who doesn't punch himself in the face the most.

Which in the last 40 years, happens to be the democrats who have consistently given themselves fewer facial contusions.

The classical power suit is so boring. Blue, white and red? Don't even give me flag colors.

What happened to Magenta? What happened to Puce? What happened to Beige?

Look, I avoid wearing suits on purpose. But you won't catch me in a blue blazer with a white undershirt and a red tie. Not this year.
