And....when is someone going to explain why they need 1000 people to run a glorified shiatposting board thats dedicated to internal workings of companies?

Seriously. These VC scams are pathetic.

I signed up for gd a year ago to read what the disgruntailia had to say about a particular company.

They keep sending me email about jobs "you'd be a good fit for".

I wouldn't be remotely fit for any of them; they are so far outside my interests.

Yep.  Fark GD.  I hired a guy a few years ago who within weeks was biatching on GD about working for the company.

At least on gd very few people will ever read it.

At work at the end of the day we would look at GD to see who post what about our company. It is pretty funny seeing the people at corporate talk it up like it is the greatest place ever. Must be nice to work at corporate.

I'm really not even sure which of my nightmares this is. Is this their standard workspace, with everyone packed tightly with tiny laptops and nothing else? And a big farking TV screen on the wall?

Or is this their breakroom, where everyone still brings their tiny laptop and hangs out even when they're done eating?

Was looking at Glassdoor last night at a few job postings.  Could not see anything until I created an account, or logged in via FB gave them all kinds of personal info and agreed to their terms.  Used a throwaway account to look at the one item I wanted to see and did not click the link they sent to "validate me".  Checked in this AM - 5 emails from GD, none of which have roles closely related to what I *told* them I did.  Never confirmed my email to them yet spam away they do - fark them.  Feel bad for those losing their jobs, however, their limited credibility is gone and they are just a data mining company at this point.

Thread closed.

Fark these farkers. That they lasted so long is a testament to how much Bay Area investors still believe the internet is magic. Their data mining was so clumsy and useless it was funny. But not funny enough to get past the fact the one thing they were supposed to be good at they didn't do.

I occasionally use them as a screen for contracts, looking for common themes in the posts. I never established an account though. The top 15 posts are usually enough to get an impression, good or bad.

Why would you need 300 people to do some HTML/Javscript/whatever scripting?  I figure it was one person typing and 299 getting that person coffee.

Looks like the latter, and by the screen it looks like a World Cup watch party.  Pretty common in places I've been to have a "bring your laptops, we'll have popcorn" setup for World Cup and March Madness... even UEFA finals or an India-Pakistan T20 match.

Typical tech. Guys under 35 crammed together with laptops. Cooler up front with LaCroix and Kombucha. Three females off on their own island... probably HR. Signatures on the wall to make everyone feel like "they're in this together". Of course, until they aren't.
