We have ordered to pies from the long shop since  March first. They are in house all the way.
I would never use a service.

The other day my oldster was pining for fried chicken, biscuits and cole slaw.
I told him if he could wait a day I would do that for him. We have all the stuff to do it.
Yeah floor freezer.

No No. He wanted it now and was just going to have it delivered from Popeyes.
Oh really says I. Wait until you get the price.
A $14 order came to $40. That was an instant no go.

Two days later, we had homemade. Everything was better except the biscuits.
I didn't have the right flour and I have hot hands. They were still good though.
And there was  ten of them instead of six.

I told him that if he just gave me a heads up I can do it.
He's so OCD  and ridged though.  He can not wait once he has fixated.

Delivery prices are like convince fees, a charged added to make the company profit off of people's laziness. It used to be that you ordered a pizza and you payed for the pizza plus a tip for the driver. Now you pay for the pizza, the tip, a delivery fee, an online free, and sometimes even a small order fee if you don't order enough food for a medium sized family. And no despite what i have been told by some the delivery fee doesn't go to the driver and with some apps like doordash neither does the tip anymore. It all goes to the company.

Or......

People stop being brain dead idiots and order directly from the food source they desire, instead of some stupid app on their phone

The tip stuff needs to end as it is just classist.  Cover it in the delivery fee.

I always assumed these companies were for restaurants that didn't do delivery themselves. Why the Fark would you use go eat or whatever to order Domino's (for example)?

Is this a viable business model at 15%? I never had the idea that these food delivery services were all that particularly profitable anyway, because it's so inefficient relative to pizza delivery.

What I find odd is a place like a pizza place that has their own delivery, and they charge you a "delivery fee" and you also need to tip. The usual excuse is it's to cover "insurance" or some other BS. Ya, $3 insurance for a 10 min drive.
