I guess they missed the part where they were supposed to provide damning evidence.  And if none was available, to fabricate it.

Well, this should be interesting.

"Do you know why you have been called up to these Halls, Sir?"

--To provide a dramatic backdrop for insinuations vaguely based on information the Committee already has from us?

"So, you ADMIT that you gave this Committee information that you KNEW wasn't incriminating?"

--We submitted the documents that we actually had. That is how we run our affairs, yes, Congressman.

"Do you have further evidence to present? Perhaps a ledger or three that were inadvertently left out?"

--No, Congressman, that would have violated the previous subpoena, and we are not in the habit of fabricating evidence.

"AHA! So you KNEW you would appear before this Committee, and you've come EMPTY HANDED?"

--I have a Diner's Club card here. I could get you a nice Cobb Salad, but that might violate Congressional rules about gifts and gratuities...

The bleeding Christ does Hunter Biden have to do with anything?  Does anybody besides Trump ass-kissers give a crap about this?

If he did something wrong, charge him and try him in a court of law, don't have another 11 hour congressional hearing that nobody is going to care about during this goddamn pandemic.

They should ignore it. Congressional subpoenas mean nothing.

\ And they should never get a dollar of democratic money again for voluntarily working with Republicans.

We're going to see a lot of stories in the next six months about this stuff, and it is all going to be 100% bullshiat.

Biden's kid got a private job allegedly because of his name. This is the scandal of the century, according to the GOP.

Donald Trump created government jobs, with high-level clearance and zero oversight, for his daughter and son-in-law. This is perfectly fine, according to the GOP.

They were already cooperating. The subpoena is for the RW headline as a distraction. It kinda, maybe, sorta, makes them look like they are doing something.

That's some kangaroo court cargo cult fascist garbage trash-human shiat.

And right wingers wonder why most of the universe considers them the shiat garbage of humanity.

Only guilty people hand over all the evidence.  Why else would sir president Trump still be hiding his taxes, after being exonerated of everything forever?

2020-05-20 9:07:17 PM
They wouldn't be cooperating so fully if they weren't trying to hide something!

2020-05-20 9:09:20 PM
War is the ultimate distraction for a civilian population, like the phony Iraq war did for Dubya until about mid '06, which was when people got tired of their kids coming home legless or in a box, so I hope Trump doesn't resort to that.

2020-05-20 9:10:17 PM
Obviously, they are too eager to cooperate so they must be hiding something.

2020-05-20 9:12:53 PM
The Republicans are just trying to drag this out until the election.  No matter how much information you give them they will just continue to request more.  And when there is no more to give they will insist that you are withholding further evidence.

So, if history is to be our guide, it's ok for a Senate committee to investigate a former politician's children ?  Asking for future me.

You know you're allowed to ignore subpoenas now.  Let them work the way through the courts or they don't have gold fringe or something.  Just toss them in the can and wait for the second notice.

The (nonexistent) impropriety isn't the point. Having a wafer-thin veneer of plausible excuses to lie about the presence of impropriety, and to showboat for the cameras of Faux News' Reichspropagandaministerium... Now that's something!

Just like the "liberal" media's obsession with lying about the Clinton Foundation: the point was NEVER to uncover any wrongdoing. I one hundred percent guarantee you that virtually every one of the breathless AP Wire stories breathlessly libelling Clinton was known to be false and a lie by the 5th column liar who filed it.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

I spent some time trying to think of a reason for them to do this.  If the company is complying with information requests there's no actual reason to issue a subpoena, and there's no reason to object to one either.  It's like walking in to a bar on taco night and announcing that people must drink beer and eat tacos under penalty of law!1!!11!  Then the people object to this for some reason instead of shrugging and continuing what they were already doing.

The only explanation I can come up with for the subpoena is that they're using the vote as a substance-free stunt to get more media coverage of the Biden investigation, which itself is a substance-free stunt.  I'm sure Fox will loudly repeat the words "Biden," "investigation," and "subpoena" over and over and over.  Hannity will chant them with increasing excitement until his face suddenly goes slack, they go to break, and he returns with new pants.  That's what they wanted out of Ukraine, but that stupid scheme failed so they're using more compliant politicians.

I still don't understand why Blue Star Strategies responded to the subpoena vote at all.  All it does is focus more media attention on the stupid stunt, as evidenced by the fact that this thread exists.  Maybe they're not that good at strategy after all.
