Minnesota here.
State just rented a cold storage warehouse for cadaver storage in anticipation of the corpse glut from the Grand Reopening.
Is your prepaid funeral contract up to date?

"It's a small price to pay finally, once and for all, to stop talking about building the public health infrastructure this nation needs and, more importantly, deserves," he said.

Yes, because dead people don't complain.

It cost a few grand to burn your body now, also it's bad for the enviroment, better to dump me in a mass grave

It would suck, but I think a general strike is necessary.

The head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said Tuesday that he believes the U.S. is ready to begin reopening, even as he acknowledged the need to invest further in the nation's public health infrastructure and expand contact tracing to avoid sustained outbreaks.

"I want to clarify that the community-based transmission, the community-to-community transmission that overwhelmed the public health departments in late February, March, April, that's really coming down," Redfield said in an interview with Steve Clemons, author of The Hill's daily Coronavirus Report.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the community-to-community transmission down because, you know, non-essential businesses and recreation have been closed?

Just an anecdote... I saw one of my small business owners on my route back today after around a month missing. He was out of commission because he had covid. He told me he wanted to do a video log of his experience, but by day 2 that wasn't an option, because he was in so much pain and struggling to think clearly. He's still recovering, and looked like he'd survived a bombing campaign. Mid 30s, and relatively healthy.

/oh it's just the flu?

OVER THE LINE!!!!

Er, sorry.  Got a little excited and mixed up my thoughts.

"Podna was a good Farker, and a good man. He was one of us. He was a man who loved the outdoors... and bowling, and as a surfer he explored the beaches of Southern California, from La Jolla to Leo Carrillo and... up to... Pismo. He died, like so many young men of his generation, he died before his time...."

$10 says he still ends up doing a video log of how covid-19 is no big deal and everyone should get back to work.

Stay safe man. I have a small business bank I deliver to as well, and I saw an old guy leaving there one day obviously struggling to breath. I implored him to seek medical attention, but he swore it was just his allergies. He had just been inside the bank without a mask on.

My wife is an ICU nurse, and most of our friends are in healthcare (doctors, nurses, administrators). I can assure you: if there was a way to livestream the suffering and batshiat insanity of what it takes to keep a COVID patient alive, or how ravaged and debilitated the lucky ones who recover are, these MAGA idiots would be hiding under their beds with their doors barricaded instead of bleating about their rights or preening about how tough they are to mingle without a mask.

"CDC Director Robert Redfield" who had a MAGA hat behind him in his senate committee appearance, that he quickly removed and hid?

That "CDC Director Robert Redfield"?

Yeah, FARK anything that guy says.  I can't imagine the anguish and stress of the _actual_ scientists and professionals at the CDC right now.

We're so boned.  And Trump and his enablers are responsible for it.  We are past incompetence and negligence and bumping up against willful homicide at this point.

Any particular reason why your chart excludes 60% of the states? Or why Louisiana is listed as a blue state?

I just heard that also. I think that being prepared is good strategy, but it makes me shiver. I have a friend that still thinks the whole deal is blown out of proportion. I won't be visiting him for another year or so. My parents know two people that have died from it, so at least they have seen the light and started to take it seriously. I am lucky enough to stay home and avoid the plague rats as much as possible. It doesn't really change my lifestyle much. I worked from home the last 5 years before I retired.

We'll likely have 100k dead* before the end of this Sunday.
10k people dying per week! 'Murica!  At what point does everyone in the US tell Trump* to fark himself while he takes a long walk off a short pier?

*True numbers are likely higher already.

Maybe the "5/19" is referring to deaths from May of 2019, as opposed to May 19th. That would be a great way of lying without technically lying. It doesn't actually say anything about coronavirus, after all.

Much like people that have experienced the real flu, survivors of a rough illness tend to get a lot smarter about avoiding a second pass, and about inflicting it upon their family. And people that haven't don't think gunshots are a big deal either.

That was in The Before Times. No matter how much he personally suffers, this experience will only be twisted into some reinforced justification of his beliefs. My bet stands.
