There's no possible way that anybody could have foreseen this, though. If only it had been forseeable, it might have been prevented. But it wasn't forseeable, it was unforseeable. That's the greatest tragedy of the COVID-19 outbreak -- it started out as something entirely unforseeable, something that was forseeable by no man, and has continued for these past few months to be entirely unforseeable as well. I mean, literally. You can't see it. Have you tried to look at COVID-19? You can't. It's, like, really small. Which I've gotta say has really given them a leg up on keeping this whole unforseeable thing going on as long as it has. Maybe what we need to start wearing instead of masks are magnifying glasses so that we have a chance of seeing it in the future. If only we could see it, we could foresee it, and then things like this -- which, I stress again, are entirely unforseeable now -- might be forseeable in the future. I'll send in that suggestion to the Task Force.

I think we need Trump, protected by "The Hydroxy", to show his fearlessness and true leadership skill by going there, and rallying the troops.

They closed for a few hours and then reopened. They didn't close for 24 hours in order to do a cleaning like they promised. And the workers noticed.

Expect strikes in the near future.

FTFA:
The employee who spoke to WGN said while face masks are being used, many are not using face shields and are not, sometimes cannot because of their work, maintain social distancing.
"We're asking the mayor and we're asking the governor to help us," they said. "It's definitely profits over people.

These workers think that a mayor who won't socially distance for something as unimportant as her hair is going to give a fly f about their lack of social distancing?

I own a 2008 Ford F-150 pick up truck.  Will this exposure affect me or my family?
Can I still go shopping and get my hair done if I wear a mask?

Thank you for your service, Ford.

Again, this is a surprise ?   When you come out of hiding, covid is there waiting for you... if it is your time to go, you will.  If not, you won't.   Grow a set and resume living.

"If someone that works at one of our plants tests positive for COVID-19, we will close the building in which that person works for 24 hours to be deep-cleaned and disinfected consistent with CDC guidelines."

And by "24 hours" we meant "a couple hours, that should do it, yeah."

Can't foment that sweet sweet class warfare and reinforce the "profits over dead covid grandmas" narrative if you don't keep breathlessly reporting on every last infection.

I say this as a full fledged scientician.    How good are the tests?  There seems to a be lot of covid positive  tests of asymptomatic people. A factory here had 100 positive tests, all asymptomatic.  I am a physicist, so I know electrons a lot better than microbes.  If I tested a 100 people in November, would I get a lot of flu positive asymptomatic results?

There was some show...Solid Gold, I think, that had a bit where they swapped out the coffee at Tavern on the Green with coffee made by supposedly straining it through Willie Nelson's sock.

The reactions were hilarious.

The guy running Ford was on NPR yesterday or the day before touting their innovation at changing up the manufacturing process to accommodate for safety measures.  Saying that they've been operating in Europe and China with only one case, and that wasn't in a manufacturing plant. So much for that load of crap.

My cousin works at the stamping plant in Chicago Heights.  He was on vacation last week.  He kept posting on FB last week that he was out on his boat at his lake place in Tennessee.  Those union jobs are pretty good.

Of course, going outside without proper protection and mitigation is just another way to commit suicide which is a sin in Gods eyes. Hell awaits all those people running around without masks.

Yes, those auto workers get paid vacations. It used to be that people were able to make the connection that union jobs means better wages and benefits for all workers once they reached a percentage of the population, Reagan and the GOP convinced a lot of morons otherwise. Fun fact, factories don't have air conditioning on the line,in the summer the car companies don't shut down unless the temperature reaches 100 degrees...inside.

So this is my plant. What they're not telling you is that these dumb dumbs came to work with pending diagnoses, instead of following the in plant process to self-quarantine. They've given us all of the PPE we were promised, outside of face shields, which haven't all been delivered on time, but if you're not wearing your mask you are reprimanded. The plant is full of many hand sanitizing stations, many within spitting distance of each other, and no, not every station is full 24/7 but with 5400 rotating employees our cleaners Leadec can't keep them all filled constantly. They make out like they're hanging us out to dry, nah. Just idiots being idiots.

Dude actually got tested within one day of showing symptoms. This is far better than expected considering the Sgt. Schultz "I see nothing!" attitude of the Trump administration. Let's call it progress and hope contact tracing can minimize the spread from this individuals infection.

Damn, this isn't the facility Trump is visiting tomorrow.

That would have been interesting.

"No, I won't wear a mask."

They don't shut down for 100 degrees.  They just add more fans and extend the breaks, depending on what the contract specifies. They may supply water and/or Gatorade.  They won't shut down.

I worked at a company as a maintenance worker in Gary, IN called Gary Steel Products for the summer of 1996.  When the humidity got too high, they would close the doors and crank up the furnace to keep the steel coils from sweating because they would rust.  It would easily reach over 100 degrees in the building.

He is coming to a Ford plant in Michigan tomorrow.  Not this one but just down the road in the COVID hot bed of SE Michigan.

They have asked him to wear a mask.  Let's see if he wears protection for the first time in his life.

That's one case, we've had multiple already, all under different circumstances, they turned people away since day 1 for not passing the thermal sensors at the gates, we're given 14 days to self-quarantine (paid) and you're given an information packet to see the sites Ford has contracted to test. The worst part about this whole ordeal are those who are asymptomatic.

We have the option to return to work, or quit, or organize and strike. We couldn't get a strike through on a few terrible contracts to regain concessions, we can't get organized to strike over this.
