This is it. This is the enemy. Everything is a victory, period. It doesn't matter what happens or why it happened. Good, bad, or indifferent. Literally every goddamned thing is a victory for Trump. Everything that has happened  or will happen in the entire universe, starting on January 21, 2017 and continuing until the end of time itself, is a victory for Trump.

And on the news tomorrow, you will hear serious journalists with serious faces asking serious questions such as, "is this a political victory for Donald Trump?"

I have no idea how to combat this enemy. George Orwell might have only missed the mark by a few decades.

I'm not quite as pessimistic as you are about news media. I fairly often see articles unambiguously reporting Trumps statements as "false." But then, I don't watch much cable.

I have no idea how to combat this enemy.

Do everything humanly possible to get people voting, and support legal defenders of voter rights.

Dumbass is far to high for anything trump.  Please mods, can we start using the r-word that truly defines trump and all of his worshipers?

Come on.  My sister died from having 1/4 of a brain for her 11 years.  trump and all of his worshipers are far more mentally damaged than she was.  Unfortunately, they did not die before they could vote.

Please let me use the r-word in its correct derogatory form to describe everything trump.

Yes, I think he and all of his voters are rezarded.

/if only I could swap a 'z' for a 't'

Oh just stop it.  Not too long ago we were in 42nd place in per-capita testing.  Now we're in 38th so...never mind, carry on. :p

/These numbers are all farked anyway because NO ONE is accurately reporting anything.
Russia right now is #2 in Total Cases but only has ~2800 deaths?
India, with a population of 1.3 billion has only ~3300 deaths?
China, with a population of 1.4 billion has only ~4600 deaths?

I'd like all the numbers to be zero but these stats don't jive with reality.

To be more specific, I eat all things spicy and grow chile peppers. (Mainly superhots); hence the handle.
(I didn't realize at the time, as you did then, that the molecular formula can be exactly other things, too, which is weird to me but I'm not a chemist.)

I literally would trust their medical opinion more than Trump's. And I know their opinion is going to be "lick it until it heals". Also, I do not immediately believe they would lie to me (though they might. My lab has figured out she gets a piece of jerky when she gets her bum wiped, since she is allowed to put said bum on the couch, and sometimes comes back inside from the backyard and stands near the paper towels, panting and bouncing, without having pooped).

Side-note:

It was surprisingly easy to find an image of multiple dachshunds dressed as doctors. I expected to have to do at least a little bit of work, but no. Easy AF. Sometimes the internet can be beautiful.

It all depends on what's stuck to what. If an O is in the middle of a chain of Cs, that's different than the N being in the middle of the chain with an O sticking out off it, etc. I really liked chem 2 back in the old days. It all made sense until we hit the subatomic level and then I checked out when all the equations changed.

I love chiles too, and while I'm what I would consider fairly spicy robust compared to the general population, I can't do the superhots. I can literally munch on raw jalapeno (though I prefer grilled), but anything too much over habanero tends to be a point of diminishing returns, where all I get is heat and I lose the flavor of the food itself. More power to you if you can still taste the food beyond that level of heat. Have you seen the Teen Titans Go episode about peppers?

Got any recommendations for growing peppers? With lockdown, the wife and I have been talking about herb gardening and I think we've got some pepper packet seeds. What's a good starter soil mix, water, and sunlight combo?

CSB:

Years and years ago, after a series of accidents at work, my mother was forced to have surgery on her ankle and knee.  Being under treatment for advanced Addison's Disease, she had thin, fragile skin and osteoporosis. And as a result of the thin skin thing, she had to have a series of skin grafts on her leg.  Which failed to take.  Repeatedly.

She lived with miniature  pinschers.   The oldest one had pride of place, sleeping against her side every night.   And one morning, after the latest in a long series of surgeries and skin grafts, she awakened to find her pinscher had very, very gently  moved the dressings and bandages aside on her leg and was very carefully washing the wounds.   Mom scolded her, cleaned the wounds and redressed them.  But night after night, it continued. The others even got into the act.

She was trying to decide whether to exile them from her bedroom for the duration, when she noticed that the wounds were finally healing and looked healthier.   And a trip to the doctor confirmed that the last skin grafts were finally beginning to take, after months and repeated attempts.

We never figured out if the dogs' attempts to clean her wounds had something to do with it or not.  But...she healed.  She healed when she hadn't before.

So...yeah.  I like dogs, I guess.

That's not enough, unfortunately. What we're experiencing here is a re-litigation of reconstruction. We have to burn every elected Republican from president down to local comptroller, otherwise we'll just be in the same boat 20-30 years from now.
