It is really a philosophical debate.  Can government help?  Or does government always makes things worst so it is better to let people do whatever they want to do.

Should government make shiatting in the the only clean water supply illegal or simply strongly recommend that people don't shiat in the only clean water supply.

I was really hoping they'd stick with it. Wisconsin too, it doesn't do us any good to practice good covid distancing if every state that borders us is going to say "fark it", especially in the summer when Ohioans like to come north. So far, Whitmer's keeping hotels and motels closed.

Libertarian answer: shiatting in the clean water supply is a crime because you don't own it. Go to jail and serve 1 full sentence for each victim.  Given that there are a few million, expect life behind bars.

This.  Also, the premise of my question is wrong.  Government is the people.  So the real question is if people are going to let other people shiat in their water?

Tin soldiers and Civid coming
We're finally on our own
This summer I hear the drumming
40k dead in Ohio

Gotta get down to it
Covid is cutting us down
Should have been done long ago
What if you knew them
And found them dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

Lots of new numbered accounts there making stupid comments.

Why exactly are we reopening without having done anything to cause the disease to go away? Just because your barber is open doesn't mean it's any less dangerous to walk in there and touch a bunch of stuff or not wear a mask, which is clearly a problem for the trumpanzees. They're going to kick and scream like toddlers when they find that most people, like me, don't want to put themselves in harm's way. Sorry, I'm not gonna sit at the bar in Applebee's and share a bloomin onion or whatever that thing is called. I'm staying home, where I'm safe from the covidiot brigade.

We're looking at a minimum of 500,000 people dead by December. Minimum, considering we're expecting 200,000 - 300,000 by August with the existing social-distancing measures still in effect in some places. It's probably going to be closer to 750,000 - 1,000,000 deaths by December.

In general, around 2.8 million people die in the United States every year. That's a 500,000 deaths is a ~20% increase in the number of deaths for the year, and that doesn't include lost productivity, expenses, and potential long-term disability for the people who do get sick but don't die.

That is a huge number of people to have die or face severe health problems. That level of death and disability will damage the economy far more than lockdowns or social distancing will.

2020-05-19 3:46:10 PM
If the Trump administration had made any effort at all to support the states by bolstering their resources and knitting together their contact tracing operations into a national framework, we'd probably be able to open relatively safely right now across most of the country.

But, alas, republicans are in charge, so instead we have a whiny, useless, and childish federal government that spent four months complaining that people were being mean to them and hurting their feelings. Instead of being able to reopen safely with a plan, we're basically sticking our toes into opaque, crocodile infested water and hoping for the best.

They've already started with that by calling you "scared" and "afraid" and that the brave thing to do is go outside and not wear a mask.

Those people need to Fark off. There is a difference between being "afraid" and "not being stupid".

How people react to that death will also mute any recovery. Because the government opened up too soon, there will be no one left to convince people that it is safe when it actually is safe, so people will take longer to return to normal behavior because there are no leaders to create confidence.

The time to go maskless and hold rallies in public, lick a few handrails, is AFTER the disease has been conquered and we actually can go back to normal so people see the leader taking the risk on him/herself and are then confident to do it themselves.

It is a primate thing -- they need to see the leader eat the red berries before they will eat the red berries. Some of us function more off our frontal lobe, but the majority don't. We needed to keep that arrow in our quiver rather than spending it proving that our leaders are farked up.

Yes, I imagine so.

I did see more masks on customers at the store yesterday than ever before. Four of my young evening crew were written up for not wearing theirs properly in our backroom although I remind them often. And so I just have to try to stay hopeful or else I start to crumble a little.

Mothers day and Memorial day are going to leapfrog everyone into MidJune for regional blooms, reaching deep into the rural areas.

I got a slice of the suburban dream, wife isbwork from home theough June, got a pool for kids and the bikes are all operational. Me and mine are going nowhere for...2020, I guess since dipshiats are gonna dipshiat. Food and upgrades to Stately Ajax Manor. And weed. That's it.

In IL, counties with dispensaries are seeing better revenue than those without because it is one of the only sectors where demand went up in the last 2 months.

'Cause if the government meant it, they'd use violence just like daddy did.. and since they ain't usin' violence they don't really mean it. It's all because they want power, see, not because the virus is dangerous.

DeWine's been caving to the racist, anti-science protesters ever since he made masks a recommendation. A reporter asked him what medical evidence he used to make this recommendation. His response was, "some people find it offensive" and offered no medical reasoning.

The majority of Ohioans think the state is reopening too soon. Ohio continues to be held hostage by a vocal, racist, anti-science minority.
