RIP ma'am. Say hi to your hubby for all of us. We miss having heroes.

Gone too soon.

That's a pretty good run. Rest in peace.

Did I stutter? I said she passed away.

/I have a speech impediment so it's OK, right?  I think that's how it works.
// she was a strong pioneer for communicative disability.

Yeah, the virus will do that.

Fair stars and following comets on your journey to join John.

Truth be told, she died of being 100 years old.

Remember in The Right Stuff when she told Lyndon Johnson to stuff it and sit in his car while John orbited the Earth?

Good times

Lucky for the rest of you Americans that John went first or I'm pretty sure he'd be kicking each and every one of your asses right now.

Maybe someone around her wasn't wearing a mask?   I'm sure they are still ok though.

Lockdown protesters hate the people who want lockdown, not the virus.
Lockdown supporters hate the people protesting lockdown, not the virus.

People can't deal with pain caused from the nature of being.

You can blame covidiots; you can also blame improper isolation.

Sorry to hear this.

My aunt just died at 97. Last of the old guard from my childhood.

They took her out of the nursing home in a body bag.

No, my grandfather died of old age. He was 98. He went to sleep one night and didnt wake up, by all accounts quiet and peaceful. His heart just stopped beating while he slept.

If she died of Covid, she very likely died a horrible, slow, agonizing death suffocating while straining to breathe.

I was too young to know whether her story was much known by the general public at the time, but I thought it was well-portrayed by Ed Harris and the actress who played her in The Right Stuff.  A nice touch to represent their real-life characters.

Because he totally wouldn't have been prepared for his 100-year old spouse to die?

Or he would have been distraught she may have needlessly suffered as she just tried to breathe? Either way is good.

Beyond a certain age just about everything can kill you.  A mild cold can be deadly to someone past their 9th decade.

At 100 just about everything (minus) intentional homicide should have cause of death being that old.

To be fair, nearly all residents of nursing homes leave that way.

Most people leave this world peacefully.    I watched Mom die last year, and Dad die the year before.  Nobody dies peacefully from COVID.

Let me clarify:  They did not die of COVID.  Mom in her sleep from something to do with a fall days earlier, Dad from complications of Parkinson's.  While Dad's death was not awesome I would take that over dying of COVID.

People are really not grasping how painful and miserable and brutal it is to die from COVID.  The ones that expire in a medically-induced coma on a ventilator have a brutal few days before they pull that trigger.  The ones that die without that assistance go through their own gasping and wincing hell.

And since no one else has said it, though it ain't my religion....godspeed, John and Annie.

Thank you.

My niece just graduate from nursing and is being sent to the frontlines of COVID.   Her mother (my sister) gave me the description of a typical COVID fatalities.   I don't know how either of them are going to handle this.   If I was graduating from nursing now....I don't know...it turns my stomach thinking about it.

Grandma?

Actually, no. My 100-year-old grandma died last month after a positive COVID test. Given that she had end-stage dementia, we told them to pump her with morphine and see if she could outlive hospice for a 5th time.

/Condolences to the family; sounds like at least her daughter will be able to go to the funeral/burial
//Nobody went to my grandma's burial, because the only relatives who lived in the same state/county couldn't be bothered

that she used as "blackmail) of me sitting on a potty chair, watching him blast off in
Friendship 7 that morning.
