Nadie_AZ: According to the numbers I've been keeping, we go over 100,000 deaths this weekend.

Its already over that.

Meanwhile in Brazil today they had 16 000+ cases, which would be like 25 000 in the US.

Brazil is what happens when a fascist bastard runs the country and theres no governors to stop his insanity.

I'll be remembering how the right wing held plague spreading rallies to kill as many Americans as possible. We're about to crack 2 Vietnam war's worth in the span of a few months, good job plague rats.

FarkBucket18: Hey Nurse!: It is a virus. It does not care who you vote for. It does not care what day it is. It does not care what state, county, city, or municipality you live in. It does not care what color you are. It is going to keep spreading because morons don't understand it is a virus, not a political machination, and it simply doesn't give a fark about anything except multiplying.

Yup. Which is why everyone is going to get it sooner or later. You can hide in your basement as much as you can, but at some point, there will be a transmission vector and you will get it.

Flattening the curve was never about keeping people from getting it; it was to slow the transmission to a reasonable level for our limited healthcare capacity.

What we need to do is keep the weak and elderly contained and quarantined and allow the remainder of the world to get back to work.

If you're going to catch it, you're going to catch it. Might as well prepare yourself for that eventuality and deal with the psychological aspect today. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

its not mandatory you catch it. I've spent 3 to 4, 12 hour shifts a week on an ICU-CVD unit since March. Mask, gloves, sanitizer, hand washing, proper ppe, etc - it can be done. But that's in a controlled environment and i don't have 4 out of 10 of my patients screaming it's a hoax and refusing to obey the rules

lolmao500: I bet we'll be over 200 000 dead by mid-june, officially in august or september.

We need some real excess deaths numbers, I bet we'll see we're already over 150 000.

In Europe they are at 160 000+ deaths with about the same population and europeans arent as dumb as Muricans.

The 152 000 death toll from last week in Europe includes about 432 million people, if you do the maths, with US population of 330 million, the US should be at around 116 000 deaths... considering that US states closed way later than in Europe and theres a lot more plague rats in Murica than in Europe, I bet its worse than that.

eiger: Iworkformsn: Are the increasing states red states?

I can't find the list in the article

The NY Times does their own analysis and has eight states increasing. I'm not sure how they deterimine this, and the states in that group seems very sensitive to daily fluctuations from my observations. Still, they are an interesting "grab bag" perhaps reflecting the somewhat random nature of how diseases spread.

Texas, North Carolina, Minnesota, Arizona, Alabama, Delaware, Arkansas, North Dakota, Maine, and Wyoming.

Apparently, I can't count. It's ten states.

I understand the economy can't be shut down indefinitely. But this is no longer a health issue. Too many dumb as fark 'Mercans think the worst is over, and will be reckless. 200,000 dead by September, and then the second wave, and flu season, and we're screwed.
