Everyone needs to vote. The stench needs to be eradicated from our houses of government. And not politely, either.

How do you vote out someone impolitely? Are they suppose to go to the polling stations with sour looks on their face or something?

No, they vote and then their newly elected officials do the house cleaning, perhaps inpolitely

Technically Wisconsin is starting to become a failed state when Evers became governor. Why? Well, before he was elected the republican controlled legislature held a lame duck meeting to pretty kill any power a governor has. I know some of those issues were are in the courts. Second, the republican controlled legislature is pretty much doing to Evers what congress did to Obama. Not let him do shiat. Evers wanted more road funding, he didn't get it, so transpiration had to up registration fees for vehicles. Wisconsin had a vote to see if we wanted legalized pot. It passed. Evers said he would be happy to sign that into law. Republicans were like fark no. The sad thing is, the people that vote for republicans are glad this is happening. Yesterday, Evers said small businesses were able to up to $2500 in aid. People were pissed about it, and it was coming from federal grants. The only way to combat this is if democrats in Wisconsin are pissed enough to outvote the idiots and gerrymandering.

Governor should've just furloughed everyone who would collect or count votes and let the Republican court do it all.

What happen after the lock-down order was lifted in Wisconsin will be repeated across the other 49 States, residents will have learned nothing, run out en mass, maskless and gathering in crowded and by the end of July the death count in the US will have doubled all in the name of freedum.

I doubt whoever coined the phrase "Freedom isn't free" had this in mind.

I live in Illinois, about 20 miles from the border.  You ask any Wisconsinite and they'll say "Illinois sucks" and visa-versa.  Up until the Trump era, it was a friendly rivalry, but lately it's just downright cruel.  Animosity and hatred of both states.  Illinois has strict stay at home procedures and Wisconsin... well, Wisconsin is what you just read.

Yet Illinois has the 3rd worst Coronavirus stats in the nation, and Wisconsin, for now, seems to be about 1/8th of that.  Is Wisconsin just not keeping track of their stats or what?

So... relocate the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks - and the educational institutions - to solvent states and nuke the site from orbit?

I think there's a lot of good in Wisconsin, but if the GOP want to burn it to the ground, take away the productive parts, push them into the middle and glass-parking-lot the place.

At least it'll be warm there for a few minutes.

Can't move the Packers, they are publicly owned. They are doing better than other teams anyways, they have almost 400 million saved up in case something like this happens, and they are still donating to charities because of this. Wisconsin doesn't deserve the Packers.

That will be one heck of a hill to climb. Like the article noted, even if the Democratic Party wins 54% of the vote, the Republicans can still have a majority.

Not that I say for one second people shouldn't vote. I think we need to get record numbers of Wisconsin citizens to the polls to cut their majority to a razor thin margin, or take it back even if by only a seat or two. Then we need to make it a state crime (felony, 10 years in prison) for anyone to try and pull off another Project REDMAP ever again. We need the districts drawn in a competitive manner so that nobody (or at least as few as plausible) from any party is a guaranteed win, and that should be a state constitutional amendment. We should also pass a constitutional amendment for all Mail-In voting, and limit the number of races a year at two only.

As another part of my wishlist:

Until it's all mail-in ballots: Election day is a holiday, where all employees (even those volunteering to work) need at least 4 hours off during voting hours.

Anyone accepting an appointment to finish a term for a House or Senate member would be ineligible to run for that seat during the next election. Also, shorten the term for Wisconsin supreme court justices from ten years to seven years, with one elected every year.

The lines were no joke. 175 of Milwaukee's 180 voting locations were closed. 5 were open. It's about a third of a mile from the corner down to the poll entrance at the high school off in the distance.

The governor could declare martial law, suspend the courts, and redirect the budget.  It's sort of a political nuclear option but if it saves lives and ironically increases democracy than so be it.

"The state" not the government. "The state" is a complex web of ongoing institutions like banks, military, schools, roads and canals, social safety nets, that kind of thing. It's really hard for a state to become a failed state. Failed states have houses that used to be connected to running water. Failed states have nobody to clean up debris when a building burns down. Failed states don't have courthouses for filing grievances when people are injured. It's not easy to know when a state is in the process of failing, but it's really obvious when they have.

So you want humans to be replaced by AI? 'Cause that's the only way that's going to work. Judges are lawyers, and lawyers are (a) educated and curious about matters of public policy, and (b) opinionated. The judiciary is one of the branches of government. It's always political.

Like I said above, most of the cities that have a UW system school tend to lean left. It's almost like there's a correlation there...
