It's not worded as well as it could have been but he's not wrong. This move plays well with his base. The question is should we care anymore about his base? It's fairly obvious to me that they're never going to change/see the light/come to jesus/whatever. Point it out for the stupidity that it is, talk about how it can backfire on him and try to convince the independents and those who have not yet fallen into the cult that that's not the way to go.

At this point, I am in favor of Trump issuing an Executive Order making this drug OTC and exempt from all FDA regulation.

In fact, Farkers should all be twitting Trump DEMANDING that they have OTC access to hydroxychloroquine, and pleading with Trump to save them from burdensome Obama-era government regulation.

If you haven't joined Twitter because you have not yet found a subject worthy enough to debase yourself over, this is it!

Why yes, I am absolutely serious about this. Let's have a Darwin Party! It will make the Tidepod Challenge look like a teatime with Lipton and Oreos. And the Fark thread on it would be Epic.

We can do this, Fark! We could out-chan 4chan with a few well-crafted tweets.

But it would be a little sad to lose certain Farkers. There's that, too....

Anyway, what else do you have to do while in quarantine?

I anticipate many an amusing Fark greenlight on Trumpers who took Trump's snake oil.

100% this.

The dead ender red-hats aren't coming back. There may have never really been swing voters, but not there none.

Elections now are won by energizing your base and getting them to the polls. The undecided voter is a mirage that's been used to hamstring the left into drifting to the middle as the right pulls hard into whacko territory.

Stop playing their game.

No he's not taking it. Because no one can prove that he is. He'll find some Navy doctor with no personal ethics to say on camera, "Sure I prescribed this for him".

Cuomo went full progressive for a bit last night while talking to Bernie Sanders.
He talked about how we need living wages and health care. It was refreshing.
He also probably got warned about it today.

Only with his base 42% and fark them anyway who cares.

His base isn't growing at all. Trumps completely burned the bridge with 50% of the country. Get out and vote November decent Americans outnumber deplorables.

Well by all means, lets start getting it in to the hands of every republican in the nation. Doctors are liberal eggheads so there's no good reason to listen to them about "dosages" and "side effects". They only way to prove how much you support the president is to take more than recommended. This is America.

Even the memo from the White House physician didn't say specifically that he was taking it.  Just that they'd discussed it

As for front line people, I would think that would include ICU personnel.  Morning Joe had an ICU Dr. from California on this morning.  He runs a unit of 30 doctors/nurses nearly full with COVID patients... none of them take it

"He's not the party of no. He's not the Democrats," Cuomo said, now breaking into whiny voice and patronizingly wagging a finger at the screen, adopting a common right-wing trope. "'No, don't take the hydroxychloroquine just in case. You stay home. You can't go out. You can't work. You can't eat. You can't live.' That's where he's put the Democrats. Some of it's messaging. Some of it's more than that."

And Trump has put the Republicans on the path to own more American deaths than this country has ever seen.

He would need a doc's prescription for it, and a doc shouldn't be prescribing drugs for an illness that the patient allegedly doesn't have. This means:
A) he's just lying about taking it (79.999% likelihood)
B) he's lying about being COVID-negative (20% likelihood)
C) WH doc is helping Trump prove how "safe" it is by writing a prescription for it for an elderly, morbidly obese man with high cholesterol, to take despite not having the disease that it is ineffective against but it's being pushed anyways, indicating that Trump is actually being truthful for once (0.001% likelihood)

Of course, it could be a combination of A and B.

It proves how tough you are when you refuse to wear a mask and take a medication that is potentially dangerous with no underlying medical evidence, and America loves tough leaders.

Somewhere along the way we came to the mistaken belief cruelty and toughness were synonymous.

What's going to be more of a "stupid thing that may work for him" is when the GOP has a big convention and the Democrats don't. It'll be played up as "Wow, look how brave the GOP is and the Democrats are cowards for not doing it" even as convention attendants fill up hospitals all over the country

Who cares what fired up Trumps base?

They're die-hard committed to him, and they're going to vote for him no matter what. And they're pretty much at maximum fire levels all the time.

Democrats need to focus on reaching out to the other ~75% of the population and firing them up.

\Difficulty: what will fire up those people isn't what the donor class wants.

Taking a pill that gives him the feeling of being invincible to COVID-19 seems exactly the type of magical thinking that got him to this point. His prodigious history of pharmacological abuse also plays right into that line of thinking. The possibility of negative side-effects is as easily dismissed as all other negative input that he constantly purges through a combination of willful ignorance and endless lying. This certainly isn't the point to begin believing in the president's risk assessment skills.

The primary argument against him actually taking it mostly involves him finding a doctor on staff willing to accept the potential consequences of prescribing it to him. I doubt even someone like Dr. Ronny wants to be Trump's Dr. Murray.

2020-05-19 4:24:40 PM
I love how there is no way to call his bluff on this, but I would love someone to press him on how it's taken, how long it's taken for, the dosage and to get specifics and not word salad. Someone should challenge Hannity, Carlson, Jackass Janine and Fox and Friends to take their Trump medicine live on air everyday and make sure we watch them pop open the blister pack and get a good look at the pill.

Let's watch the whole cult destroy their bodies as part of a loyalty pledge to Adolf Twitler.

Maybe he thinks that a living Trump will have a better chance against Biden in November than a dead Trump, an interesting question.

Again and again we're hearing "You want Trump to get re-elected in 2020? Because [x] is how Trump gets re-elected in 2020" and it doesn't really seem to matter what [x] is because the reasoning all over the map.

If the U.S. is home to the right amount of reasonable citizens then Trump gets thrown out of office, gets arrested for his abuses of power, and dies in farking prison. If not, then Trump is a true reflection of modern American values.

I know I'm voting for Not Trump this year--if you're scratching your chin and still "on the fence", or are butt-hurt that your idea of the perfect democrat didn't get the nom, then fark you. I will laugh when you get taxed into non-existence and your health care gets flushed down the toilet, or when the next global threat rolls into town and you find yourself wondering again why the Trump administration never seems to be prepared for anything.

Yeah, somehow I doubt he is taking it which makes his statement even more dangerous.  On the off chance that he is actually taking it, I want to see his long form prescription.  I'm sure he'll show it along with his tax returns.

My rheumatologist prescribed this or a (similar drug the names are hard to follow) for a legitimate use of the drug about the same time Trump started spouting this nonsense.  It's now been over a month on backorder at my pharmacy with no end in sight.  I don't know who is taking them but someone is hording a lot.
