Good riddance.  Though I'm sure he's up to something nefarious.

In my dark moments I hope he goes the way of Robert Jay Mathews.   Without the property damage.

Shea is a co-founder of the Coalition of Western States, a loose federation of politicians and anti-government and militia supporters throughout the U.S. West. Its goal is to "stop unconstitutional actions against United States citizens,″ according to the December report into Shea's activities, paid for by the Washington state House.

Robert Jay Mathews. His cabin where he was finally cornered was right across the street from one of my High School buddy's parent's vacation house. That neighborhood was sealed off for a couple of weeks and only full-time residents were allowed in and out. He was apparently feeding himself out of other people's cabins and Buddy's parents place had been broken into and looted out by "unknown persons" according to the local County Sheriff. They were pretty sure it was him. The man was a homicidal lunatic.

I met Shea once last summer, he was holding "court" in a truck-stop cafe in Ritzville last year. Had four or five local yokels sitting at his booth and the one behind him. Chatted with him for a few minutes but it was obvious he was there to  just eat and schmooze the locals with his rather weird brand of Nationalist-Corporatist blather.

He's a die-hard Randian, and was apparently insulted when I mentioned that one of the reasons a lot of the locals were still in business was because their grandparents and parents were getting regular government checks to keep their farms operating while they were grumbling amongst themselves about how the Government was there to tell them how to run their farms. It was obvious that the guy was more than just a little crazy.

He'll pull a Tim McVeigh or something similar once he's out of office. The man is nuckin' futs.

Friend of mine spent a couple of weeks in a hospital because of a goddamn pissed-off cow. Their trick is to knock you down, and then straddle you and spin you around on the ground with their hooves. Prominent Right-Wing blogger Erik Erikson once wrote a several thousand word essay arguing that the bit n the Bible where Jesus was all "You want to get into Heaven? It's simple Feed the Hungry, clothe the naked, help the sick, etc..don't do that and you're going to hell.  think of it this way , anything you do to your fellow man you're doing to God, so don;t piss him off"  REALLY only meant making sure your church's pastor had a nice suit and a Mercedes to roll in, because Jesus was only talking about preachers, not poor people....

Man, I'd forgotten about that whackjob.

Wiki:  "Mathews and eight other men founded the terrorist organization "The Order."... The group's first task, according to Mathews' plan, was to obtain money to support white separatism.  They robbed an adult bookstore in Spokane, Washington, which netted $369.10.

Behold, the master race :)

As someone who lived in the Bible Belt, I believe you.

I lived among churchgoers (we're talking predominantly Southern Baptist and Church of Christ [sic]) who insisted that Christ's first recorded miracle (the transformation of water into wine at the Marriage at Cana) was misinterpreted and misunderstood by almost all biblical scholars, theologians, and the overwhelming majority of Christians in all lands and throughout history, because Jebus didn't conjure up "demon rum"; oh no; rather, it was a sanctified 0% abv grape juice.

On purpose, I used to delight in listening to these sons and daughters of the soil wax on about whom they imagined Jebus to be (as opposed to, say, what is actually recorded in the scriptures) and then I'd casually say, "Well yes, but of course, Jesus was a Jew."

And then yea verily, did I behold that their visage did taketh on the manner of wine. :D

This is why I hate Christianity. It's a douchey religion that attracts douchey people.

People have been gamely trying to polish a turd for 2,000 years but it's mostly been dickbaggery inflicted on the long suffering, conquered people, women, gays, natives, Jews and non Christians.

Sorry but it's the truth.

Screw that religion with a nine iron.
