"I don't care he's senile, at least he's not corrupt" vs "I don't care he's corrupt, at least he's not senile."

America: from shining city on a hill to global cautionary tale in a few short decades.

/and yeah Biden is obviously 1000x better than Trump and I'll vote for him but Jesus Christ how have the Dems put themselves in a position where they're literally arguing we shouldn't care whether the President has all his marbles or not

^ THIS

The GOP started this shiat and the media is more than happy to play along, as per usual.

Sure Biden has his share of gaffes and maybe it's just me but I can't listen to Trump talk for more than five seconds before wanting to jam a pencil in my ears.

His daily lies and word salads alone should be enough to disqualify him from the presidency.

TRUMP THOUGHT PEOPLE INJECTING DISINFECTANT INTO THEIR BODIES should have been something to research.

Any time someone goes all lol, Biden mixed up X and Y, unqualified and senile!1!! just remind them of that.

Also, when was the last time Biden even "gaffed" in public?

Let's see the link.  The "intercourse"  "gaffe?"  That's going to make people reconsider voting for him?  Really?

Dude's made approximately as many public appearances as Kim Jong Un since winning the nomination. His team doesn't trust him to get out there and stay on message unless he's tightly scripted.

And yeah it's fine and all, he's more doddery than demented and even in the worst case we could do a lot worse than a Democratic version of Ronald Reagan, but it's really kind of frustrating that during the honeymoon period when we should be getting "he's gonna be great!!!" takes from the friendlier outlets and "I can't wait!!!" buzz from Dems, we're getting variants of "maybe he's not that great but the other guy is worse!!!" from both.

Everyone has an absolute moral duty to vote for Joe Biden given how manifestly unfit and incompetent and imbalanced Trump is. He needs to win. I just wish I had a little more to go on than grim civic duty.

So the only choices on the menu is either a rusty bucket of broken-glass laden horse diarrhea or a personal pan pizza...with a topping I don't like? What a dilemma!

Bidens gaffes vs grown man that calls people names like a 7 year old and whose clearly confused about numerous subjects half the time. Got it.

That's a poor analogy considering Reagan was corrupt and senile too. Is that the joke?

Biden will hire and appoint a competent administration.

That should be enough to run on and win in a landslide.

2020-05-18 2:34:28 PM
Is this the daily Joe Biden does not spark joy within me thread?

2020-05-18 2:34:34 PM
Even with the mental gaffes, I still trust more in Biden having a competent administration than Trump's current farkup of an admin.  Remember, you are not only electing the PotUS, but you are also putting in an administration that you think will work for the common good of the American people.

Stop it. In today's reality, the dichotomy isn't false. One of the two will be president at the end of January. We have to decide which one.

2020-05-18 2:35:46 PM
Trump talks like a 5-year-old with a brain injury on his best days, but yeah, let's focus on Joe Biden's gaffes.

No one made any false equivalences. . at least not honestly.  Trump voters love the motherfarker.   If you're still hoping for 'sanity to prevail' you're farking hopeless.

Oddly enough, trump settled out of court in a lawsuit accusing him of raping a 13 year old. So, we know he's down with that.

Fixed that for GOP voters. The only time I doubt Trump's senility is when he's being blatantly corrupt. His train of thought went off the rails....well, actually, I can't recall that it was ever on the rails...

PsyLord: an administration that you think will work for the common good of the American people.

That remains to be seen.
But by not immediately shutting out progressives, I have hope it won't all be corporate bailouts and tax cuts for the wealthy in an effort to rebuild.

But, if Biden leaves all of Trump and Republicans' crimes unanswered, it won't matter how competent his adminstration is. A competent fascist will exploit the path Trump carved and we'll be worse off than before come 2020.

2020-05-18 2:39:45 PM
Yes I would take it too, but people want to be entertained these days, Trump is entertaining and an opponent like Biden makes him even more so.  The lines are blurred, Biden is a bigger dog than Hillary as a candidate and he's gonna lose hard

2020-05-18 2:39:48 PM
Biden is going to "lose" one of the debates because he misspeaks once, and corrects himself immediately, while people ignore that Trump refers to Biden as Barack, Mitt, Vladimir and Mr President multiple times during the same debate, seemingly without realizing it.

Let us compare apples to apples Trump to Biden.

Gaffes: Trump is worse, he wins the title King of Gaffes.
Sexual deviants: Trump is guilty of a multitude of misconducts (and has confirmed such by his own admission). Trump wins that tidbit King Sexual  Predator.

Let us keep focus on the comparisons.

Trump wins the King of Horrible title, and Biden does not.

But Trump is farking senile.

Trump is corrupt, lying, stupid, and incapable of doing the job. PLUS he is senile.
His speeches later in the day contain more gaffes and slurred speech. There are times he can't properly hold items.

2020-05-18 2:41:56 PM

Didn't he want to cut social security, or was that a fever dream?

Donald Trump can't read, has to take a golf cart if it requires him to walk more then 50 feet. Is always drugged out and has no ability to accept he isn't the smartest person in the room.

Biden is a gaffe machine, but he can read, he can run circles around trump for hours and bonus actually will pick the best guy for the job regardless of party.

It's not a hard choice. Either vote for Biden or we might not have a country in four years. (Honestly I don't care California can survive the fall of the United States people in red states not so much)

And now, we have a thread to dedicate to making the same false dichotomy.

2020-05-18 2:44:31 PM
Social media has assured me we're on "Biden is a known pedophile" for this Monday. "Biden is an Alzheimer's patient" is Wednesday.

(Although this really does undercut Biden being able to tell Trump he's forgotten more about policy than Trump has ever learned, although that isn't a difficult feat.)

Covefe? Hamberder? Noble? That list goes on and on. So do the constant spelling errors and outright nonsense Trump vomits everywhere whenever he's not talking off the teleprompter - and often even so.

Biden gaffes occasionally. OMG!

False equivalence bullshiat is tiresome.

2020-05-18 2:45:55 PM
"57 states" is at least, legitimately, a gaffe. "People like their employer based insurance" and "medicare for all wouldn't help anyone" is downright sociopathic.

I bet you couldn't even name one

Trump's senile dementia is visibly worse than Biden's to anyone with even a tiny level of actual experience with senile dementia.

That said, they've both clearly got it to some degree and it shows up regularly enough to be rather apparent in both of them, and once you have it at all the slide into complete incoherence and being the mental equivalent of a rotten potato even in your seemingly lucid moments is something that happens in, like, minutes with no warning whatsoever.  So pointing out that Trump's is way worse isn't really the reassurance that this'll be an improvement that Biden's campaign staff wants us to think it is.

Basically I agree that I'll still vote D just because the party actually has the interests of the nation at heart, but jesus christ the Democrats couldn't have put forward a worse nominee for the post if they'd been actively trying to throw the election.

// Well, I exaggerate.  Buttigieg was an option, and he was actually worse.

As opposed to bragging about sexual assault, wanting to fark his daughter, talking about marrying a 10 year old, injecting Lysol, and the 1000 gaffes a day that Trump grunt-farts every single day?

2020-05-18 2:48:02 PM
It's the same calculus as the sexual misconduct thing - if this is an issue that informs your voting choice, the easy pick is Joe Biden. He's been accused of dozens fewer sexual misconduct incidents and Trump makes him look quick and lucid in comparison to his speed addled befuddlement.
