Goddamnit so much.

I'm not saying Partick Thistle would have clawed back from relegation but it would have been nice to find out.  Or to have a one-time expansion of the Championship (allowing promotion from League One without relegating anyone).

They are apparently looking at changing the sizes of the various leagues next year to not punish the 'relegated' teams, but that's a discussion that's ongoing. So it's possible Hearts will get to stay up in a larger SPL next season, and so on down the pyramid.

Honestly I think it's not a great idea to expand the SPL.  The Old Firm is already so far beyond teams like us, but the other problem is that teams like us are so far ahead of teams like Hamilton Accies or St. Mirren or Ross County.  Let's be brutally honest here: the SPL shouldn't have teams in it which average 5,000 home fans per match, or club setups that are inferior to those in the National League in England.  I know Livingston is fighting above its weight and I respect that a lot, but the plastic pitch at the Spaghettihad is just an embarrassment.  And Ross County, well we love the Highlands but it's just not an elite setup in any way.

Considering the size of Scotland and the clubs in the Scottish game... They should be looking into a 10-team league instead of expanding.  The rest of Scottish football hates it but all the money is with the Old Firm and the more times they play each other the more money we'll make.  I mean, you look at the Championship...if we play one fewer game against each of the Old Firm sides and have to replace that with trips to clubs like Alloa or Arbroath or Ayr United because the league went to 16 teams, we're going to lose a lot of money.
