It's unacceptable that a single person died after China released the virus. Or at least when China finally told WHO. Or maybe when WHO spread Chinese propaganda about the virus not being contagious. But Trump should definitely be blamed if a single person died after he stopped travel into the US from China at the protest of Democrats.

Yup

Tucker Carlson or Dan Rather?
Faux and Friends or 60 Minutes?
Jim (my way or the Highway to Hell) Bakker or Pope (lighten up folks) Francis.?

Gosh, how's a person to choose who has more credibility??

The US is getting sick because of refusal of truth just like the rest of us are getting sick from COVID.

Obviously. But I would argue we already knew many of the specifics. This is not a criticism of the whistleblower or story. It's just a shiatty headline because it frames it as a revelation, which is fundamentally misleading.

Kangaroo_Ralph: after he stopped travel into the US from China at the protest of Democrats

I know you probably plan to just lay that stinker on the rug and make a run for it, but I would feel remiss not to mention:

- Travel continued between China and US after that announcement.
- The outbreak on the East Coast originated from travel with Europe.
- I have yet to see a legitimate example of Democratic leadership decrying attempts to limit travel with China. The Schumer tweet was faked and Pelosi's criticism was a response to Trump putting restrictions on primarily African countries as part of an expansion of his totally-not-a-Muslim-ban earlier that day.

You can't explain anything to these types of posters.  They have been continually wrong and continually fact checked for at least the last three years.  They don't care if other people are laughing at them.  They are too stupid to have any sense of self-awareness.

After at least three years of observing this pattern of behavior, these users should simply be shown the door.

You can, however, explain things to the people they are actively trying to fool.  In this case, people who buy into this particular brand of horseshiat are being unnecessarily exposed to danger by the ignorance that comes with it.  I feel like there's some responsibility to try and inoculate those folks to that danger.

To which end:
Every single thing Kargaroo_Ralph said is completely insane.  I invite anyone who happened along this thread and isn't sure about one or more of those insane statements to ask about it.  No judgement.  It's perfectly fine to not know things.  Just... you know... don't do what K_R is doing and talk out of your ass.

So, uh, Rick Bright: We focus on chemical threats, biological threats such as anthrax, nuclear threats, radiological threats, pandemic influenza and emerging infectious diseases.

That sounds like a pretty important and kind of critical office. Shouldn't we have a really smart, dedicated scientist in charge of such an office, instead of some toady?

It shouldn't be necessary, I know, but someone needs to point out to Trump and his followers that it doesn't matter how many BS excuses for his ineptitude they bundle together. Zero times infinity is still zero.

So the options for you are either "it's all china's fault" or "trump ain't responsible for anything that happens on his watch"

It's actually good to see you defend his response like this. It basically means that, as you see it, trump is the pinnacle of republican leadership, and as a republican/conservative you see it as perfectly acceptable for a leader to whine and pass blame. It's good to know that since you are a conservative/republican I can expect any future leaders you endorse to have similar leadership qualities.

Thank you for clearing that up for the class.

Exactly, it doesn't mean that a complaint is baseless. And this from the article:

President Trump: I tell you what. I watched this guy for a little while this morning. To me he's nothing more than a really disgruntled, unhappy person.

Norah O'Donnell: The president called you a disgruntled employee.

Rick Bright: I am not disgruntled. I am frustrated at a lack of leadership. I am frustrated at a lack of urgency to get a head start on developing lifesaving tools for Americans. I'm frustrated at our inability to be heard as scientists. Those things frustrate me.

"Disgruntled" is not a pejorative, it just means that someone is irritated or upset. In this case Bright is rightfully disgruntled and there is no reason to deny it, other than it is not a strong enough word.

Although, I don't think I'd be able to tell if he's had a stroke or not.

He had the "first half of his physical" during an unscheduled visit to Walter Reed back in November. Following that visit, the White House physician accompanied him in the Beast when he traveled. He also exited the lower stairs on AF1 instead of the upper stairs. He has already had some medical event, though we don't know what.
