The Googles Do Nothing: Per the prophecy, only Lisa Simpson can unseat him and she is not running this year.

You have to go deeper.

LISA SIMPSON rearranges to MISSION PALS.

"Pals".... well, that's obviously Obama and Biden.

But what about "mission? That refers to the Alamo, where David Bowie famously fought Gen Santa Claus who is one of Biden's most famous ancestors.

AND if you need even more confirmation...

MISSION PALS is 7 letters and 4 letters.

Joe Biden is 7'4".

Coincidence? I think not.

Well, that and now he has his solid record to run on, so there's that.  /s

And the AP will surely do their part to assist. Have talked about where Biden was during Benghazi? What about his email server?

Makes sense, since Biden is just a male HRC.  Trouble is, Trump was the outsider last time. This time he has a record of failures to defend.

Where was Biden on 9/11? I'm just asking questions here.

In 2016 Trump was able to make the BS claims of "Only I know how to fix it!" and "I'm a billionaire businessman, I know how to make deals!" and "I'm going to be working so hard for you that I will be too busy to golf!" and on and on.

Kind of hard to make those claims now when we have almost four years of stupid tweets and a million rounds of golf and impeachment and investigations and graft and nepotism and crime.

But, yes Don, you do you!

growinthings: The solution is to VOTE BLUE in Nov.

That's not going to work.

They have to earn my vote. I need to KNOW Biden will keep his promises. He's just another Republican. There isn't enough progressive representation. Nothing's really going to change unless we let them know we're angry.

Did I miss anything?

Biden is not HRC. Trump climbed to power due to a perfect storm. In the primary it was a perfect storm of a 30% of crazy Fox News viewers and the fact 22 Republicans were selfish and refused to bow out of the primary.

Then the Democrats decided it was Hillary's turn and ran the one candidate that right wing news has spent 25 year vilifying. It was a battle of the two most unpopular candidates in history.

With the exception of Bernie Trump would have lost to any other candidate one on one - R or D.

But make sure you get out and vote.

Something about sexual misconduct and senility. Oh, and how both sides are bad.

Wow AP!  That's a lot of words to come to the NSS conclusion that Trump will run the same racist, homophobic, misogynistic, fact-free campaign fueled by the resentment of the worst people in the country as he did last time.

Or the ever effective "they will take your freedoms!"

I've been reading some concern trolling lately that it seems like both sides are bad when it comes to civil rights and civil liberties.  Get ready for some deep concern about that.

And then we follow it up with John Kerry's granddad, pre-seeded with a (fake) scandal or two (just like the emails). Surely that's not a repeat of the same mistakes as 2016!

The last two Democratic Presidents were young and wonky. Biden may be wonky, but not like pre-President Obama or Bill Clinton. They inspired people to come to the polls because they were different candidates (Clinton because he hadn't been born in the Triassic, Obama because of his hue ...and cry of "hope and change").

Biden is ...not that.

Make sure you go vote in November, but Democrats sticking with the primaries' "safe" pick has literally never once worked out for the Blues in my lifetime.

Trump could run on his record and his supporters would turn out in droves. They believe he's the greatest President in history, pursuing an historic house-cleaning and reinvigoration of capital-a America.

Here's the problem, Biden is not Hillary Clinton.  Biden can be charming and it won't seem fake.  Clinton maybe even would have been better off if she hadn't tried to be personable and instead tried to just be super competent, but that ship has sailed.  Biden has empathy and is (in real reality) pretty scandal free.

I think that's sort of the thing that some Democrats are still having a hard time coming to terms with... HRC was a uniquely vulnerable candidate, between the 30 years of attacks in the run up to her campaign, her inability to answer direct questions, her refusal to own the consequences of her positions (as in the town hall where she answered a death penalty question by reaffirming her support of the death penalty and not addressing any of the questioners concerns about racial disparities in its application), and all the rest that just came with Hillary being Hillary.

With Hillary... well, I don't hate her... but lots of people do... they viscerally hate her... she had incredibly high negatives even going into the 2016 primaries. Lots of people voted sensibly, but ya, out of a hundred million voters, there were probably several thousand, including in swing states, who showed up at the polls feeling like these two candidates proffered were both deeply unlikeable, and some of them voted Trump, thinking "how bad could it be"... assuming that institutions were strong, and that most of the job of the Presidency was somewhat set in stone, and mostly approving/denying congressional legislation.  This go around, people don't have that deep, vitriolic hate for Biden... even those that don't like him don't really hate him the way they did Hillary. On the flip-side, they both know Trump's governing style now, and theyll know, by November, with 100k+ dead Americans, just how bad it can be to have a third-rate game show host in charge of a pandemic response.

Overall, I think Trump has some headwinds going against him that he didn't have in 2016... most of them self-created. He's got a record now, people know what to expect. Biden doesn't have some of the headwinds Hillary faced.

That said, what I'm really hoping for, as uninspiring as I find Biden, is a huge Biden win. I want Biden to win by so much that it doesn't just beat Trump, but it beats Trumpism. This anti-expert, anti-fact bend the GOP has taken represents probably the greatest danger to the US since Naziism and WW2... it isn't enough just to beat Trump, the underlying ethos that drives him needs to be defeated, the roots of the weeds need to be pulled, and if we gotta salt the earth to keep it from regrowing, then that's what needs to happen.

Also, with all the court picks, the Merrick Garland fight, and Justice fratbro... it's plain to see whoever wins the presidency will either keep the balance in the court, or if Trump wins, enshrine faux-conservative authoritarianism into the court for decades to come. SCOTUS is worth fighting for, and the risk is more real than ever.

His lame no change moderate DLC policies are the thing Obama / Trump voters were opposed to.  HRC was a candidate of the Status Quo which was working for fewer and fewer people. Biden has offered nothing new either. Going back to "the way things were" is not inspiring when that was only less bad because our leader could form complete sentences.

Everything else was a bunch of made up nonsense, which the right wing will make up for Biden just as well. People who want to believe a Benghazi will believe that Biden consorted with space aliens or whatever. I'm not really concerned about those voters because you won't get them no matter what.

There are two big differences:

1. Trump is a failed President

and

2. People are sick of his shiat.

2020-05-18 6:52:07 PM

Master P but not that one: Then the Democrats decided it was Hillary's turn

And what they did this year was different from that how, exactly?

They're as dead to me as the Republicans.  As of now, literally the only difference between the lying racists with a knife to my throat and a hand in my increasingly-empty pocket on the Right and the ones on the Left is that the ones on the Right have ceased even attempting to lie to me about it in any convincing way, instead concentrating on gaslighting people who can't read past the 4th Grade level.

I won't vote for either of them, ever again, and I will go down trying to convince everyone else not to, either.
