Wow, I'd have even taken a pizza party over that ghoulishly bad idea.  Heck a pudding of the month club gift card would be better then a shirt to remind them of that time when co-workers were being sacked for speaking up about the conditions or organizing and other co-workers were dying.

I hope that shirt becomes re-purposed as a rallying call to organize, or at least add a nice pleasant little guillotine sketch up on it next to Jeff Bezo's gigantic mountain of rice.

Then you'd know that instead of being the pigeon on the chessboard, people might take you more seriously if you wrote something that actually contributes to the discussion instead of going with... well, what you went with.

Do you really think that they'll send out America Strong t-shirts instead of another round of checks?

That would be amazing.

You'd have to start with a sound argument before that would be possible...comrade.

I don't even think they'll do that much. The Republicans seem to have an attitude of 'As long as I got mine, fark everyone else'

I'm sure they could repurpose the the IRS "Where's my payment?" page from collecting direct-deposit info to instead ask for t-shirt sizes.

I wonder if anyone else has recently experienced an inability to  place an Amazon order unless you "agree" to a "free six month trial" of Amazon prime? A week or two ago, I cancelled an order because I could not deselect the free trial. Customer service on the live chat could do nothing except say "you can cancel at any time," but they insisted I had to place the order before I could cancel it. I thought "if I can cancel it, why can't I refuse it to begin with."  I finally became exhausted with arguing with customer disservice, made a list of my products, and went to four or five other online merchants to buy them. Has this happened to anyone else?

The GAP pulled similar stunts in the 1990's. Management would cut store employee hours down to less than 10 hour per week then hand out baseball caps that said GAP on them as a "thank you" for all the hard work those employees put in the previous month or quarter.

Bruscar: I wonder if anyone else has recently experienced an inability to  place an Amazon order unless you "agree" to a "free six month trial" of Amazon prime?

No. We've had our usual order or two per month, and always get the invitation to sign up, but never one we couldn't refuse. Non-prime delivery has continued to be extremely prompt for our orders, well ahead of the initial 'free shipping' estimates at the time of order.

We did take a trial for a month or two several years ago, maybe that keeps us out of any mandatory trial? It was fine, but we just don't order a ton and never with urgency. The video streaming was entertaining, and we probably will sign up within a year or so to catch some of their more recent stuff.

Amazon asserts it has not fired anyone for worker dissent, and that Smalls and others were terminated for violating company policies.

Specifically, the company policy that forbids worker dissent.

That was quite a while back, there was a story two days ago though that the 21rst century dragon known as Jeff Bezos is set to kill off the covid-based paid bump for Canadian Amazon workers at the end of the month.

Ha, I have no trouble believing that. I noticed that after a few years of refusing Prime, my orders would say that the shipping wasn't going to happen for two weeks or something. Or they'd let me know.

It never seemed to take any longer than usual, and this is not really an issue with me anyway. I try not to use Amazon much, just for things things I can't get in the stores. I can pay for shipping.

Every employee should go home, cut the shirt up, make a homemade coronavirus protection mask, and show up for work the next day wearing it.
