One difference is that Trump is going to have to run on his record for this election.  He is no longer an "outsider."

2020-05-17 2:34:21 PM
The big thing is that this isn't national polls, these are polls in individual battleground states. From the article:

"In the competitive states (where most of the state polling has been conducted), there has been an average swing of 6 points toward Biden compared to Clinton's 2016 result. The same is true in the non-competitive states."

Also polls have shown that people who dislike both candidates are swinging towards Biden.

OF COURSE WE HAVE TO VOTE!

That will sway his base, for sure.

Trump will focus on holding rallies so he can bask in the adulation of his cult and the votes to the Russians.

What is interesting is that these polls will convince more and more people (economists, business leaders and other politicians) that Trump is actually going to lose.

When more people start believing Trump will in fact lose.  That's when more and more people will turn against him.  Trump will lose his shiat even more.  The polls will show him losing by even greater margins.  That will convince more and more people (economists, business leaders and other politicians) that Trump is actually going to lose.

I mean....if you were to encapsulate the GOP plan....it would be to spread the idea that your vote does not matter. I think that they are wrong. I think that every single vote matters.

Sorry. I'm the person who thinks voting should be the easiest thing in the world.

Forget vote by mail. You should be able to show up at any voting place in your state, and have your vote count.

You're in the 7th district but work in the 15th and lunch is your only chance to vote. That isn't your problem. That is the problem of the state to make sure they count your vote

Agreed. I think that polling places should stay open for 24 hours a day, for at least 2 weeks before the end of the voting period and that everyone gets at least one day off to cast their vote.

Two legitimate things:

End of summer, I think we have 200,000 dead. By November? With schools supposed to be in session? Football supposed to be going on? The disruptions they can't blame on others forever.

The horse race narrative. Normally the stupidity of the NYT (and others) kicks in and they start slagging on the Dem nominee. Biden wore an off-brand pair of khakis today sort of thing, talking about it for two weeks. I don't think they'll manage to engage their worst impulses.

Now, do these realities overcome GOP/Rooskie cheating?

2020-05-17 6:43:16 PM
That's not really a surprise... Given just how incredibly awful Trump and his administration have been the last 3 years, there are a ton of people who voted for him who are horrified.

His base hasn't changed a bit, they're essentially a cult. But a ton of people who wouldn't vote for Hillary, or just voted Trump for "something different" aren't gonna vote for him this time around. These are the generally uninformed voters who don't pay a ton of attention. But he's been such an epic train wreck and embarrassment, even those people have noticed.

I like Biden's chances a lot, as long as it's a fair election that doesn't get tampered with. However, I don't think it will be a fair election and I think there will be a ton of tampering in favor of Trump. Even worse than last time. So I guess we'll see.

2008? Don't they know the Republicans took credit for that already?

Three points Biden needs to make:
1 I'm not Trump
2 I will investigate Trump (lock them up, lock them up) emoluments, general grifting, Russia and Chinese business dealings and that includes his kids and that little doggy Jared too.

Amusingly, you lose me on the 2 weeks. I'm not a fan of early voting.

I think everyone should vote on the same day with the same information as everyone else

But since clearly a huge amount of  America doesn't want that, I accept early voting as a necessary step

Whatever...  I'm not going to feel good about any of it until I wake up on November 4th to headlines saying, "Biden has won the Presidency".

That is why we need to get out and vote.  We need to vote in such numbers that no amount of GOP fraud and farkery will skew the result.  This has to be a decisive defeat.  One that can't even be challenged with a recount.

Look there are many that belong to team R and team D but so many more that don't.
Using your inner circle catch phrases and watching your propaganda network( whether it be MSNBC or FoxNews) makes you feel good and superior but they don't do anything for people that do not watch it or root for the team.

Taking credit for 2008 and after for commercials in Northeast Pa. (where wages are $10-$12 an hour with no real healthcare) has got to be the dumbest self inflicted wound you could make.
No matter how many times you say "but her emails" or "but Trump" in your circle it isn't going to help you with the people outside of it.

That's not what we learned.  What we actually learned was that national polling, showing Hillary winning the popular vote by several percentage points was correct, the almost 3 million more votes she received matched the national polling average almost exactly.  We also learned that state polling was shiat, several states which had polling showing Hillary would win that state were way wrong.  We also learned that popular votes don't mean shiat and thus national polls don't mean shiat, if the votes aren't in the right states.  Bottom line, don't believe the state polling, and take no comfort in national polling.

Four day national holiday. Mandatory paid time off.

Full embargo on all results reporting -- polls, counts, predictions, everything -- not just until the polls close but until the results are fully counted and certified.

Also, universal vote by mail.

But that would lead to people actually voting,so the t(R)eason party will fight it with everything they have.   And it'd take an Amendment to stop the reporting.

But it'd solve a lot of problems.

Neither candidate got votes from people under 60.
They both depend on retirees who look forward to voting because that gives something to do and a way to punish those lazy young people. Afterward they go back to rice pudding being the highlight of their day.

What you propose would decimate the leaders of the Democratic party the most because it makes voting easy and the younger voters are extremely unhappy with centrists. I think the Democratic party would fight harder against what you propose. Covidiots will always do what FoxNews tells them to do.
