The dad was gonna do that anyway. The kid tagging along just keeps him from getting funny looks from people.

That's an impressive collection of coordinated costumes they've got there.  Something tells me costuming together was a regular thing for them before all this.  Which, BTW, is still very cool.

When I was a 5-year old girl, I asked my dad when boys grew up.

"6 months after death," was his immediate response.

Many years later, I told him that he was right. The funny thing was that he forgot the entire exchange, and was aghast that I would have remembered.
