Well there will be a lot of pray warriors and religious types there so Invisible Sky Wizard should take care of them.

I wonder if they're going to take extra stringent sanitizing measures will at the convention or is that a big hoax too?

August, huh?  That's...surprisingly late. What are the odds that they go all Fletcher Christian on Captain Blight during the convention and nominate a dark (RMoney) horse candidate?  At this point everyone except the wingnut brigade is responding negatively in the polling.

No it isn't.  Modern conventions are generally held in mid-July to mid-August.  And the sitting President's party goes last.  Generally, it comes out as non-Presidential party convention-> 2 weeks ->Presidential party convention -> 2 weeks -> Labor Day, with each convention roughly a week.

They can run with the Orange Menace, or they can run one of his enablers. Either way they should NOT be allowed to distance themselves from the damage that they have done by saying "Oh, that? That was totally Trump.".

August in Charlottesville? The GOP really is a death cult.

I'm surprised that they didn't decide to hold it on the week of August 12.

The city and month are not at all surprising. It's just gonna happen a week later than I would have guessed.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm not suggesting that. I'm just suggesting that--within the republican ranks--someone has surely asked whether anyone would rid them of this meddlesome presnit.

August is a good time of year for the Rethuglican party to pick an identity to die for.

Can't happen.  When a state has a primary, it determines who sends how many delegates to the convention.  Delegates are chosen from a slate of choices listed by each candidate.  Delegates are not allowed to vote for anyone except the candidate from whose list they were chosen for the first two ballots.  If they try to do differently, their votes will just be recorded as how they were supposed to vote.  Only if the first two ballots are a bust (candidates can pull out or ask their delegates to vote for someone else on the second ballot).  Only after two failed votes do the delegates get released to vote as they will.  You can't nominate someone without delegates until after the second ballot.  Most red states didn't even hold primary elections and just appointed all of Trump's list of delegates.  There is no way that Trump can't get the required majority on the first (and thus only) ballot.

A couple. Hunt for Red October is probably the best he wrote. Rainbow Six is pretty good. Everything else is libertarian mastabatory aid.

/ at least they aren't The Forgetting Moon. Every single chapter is a vignette  examining all the ways one person can be horrible to another.

// excellently written though.

You won't have to. It just takes one.

One woman infected 84% of her entire church in just hours. They in turn, left and infected loved ones, strangers, etc.

That's the thing. That's why we're royally pissed. It's that infectious. It's that nasty.

But you know, Republicans hate reality.

This may seem random, but the thought of a bunch of right wingers gathering together made me think... Has anyone else encountered people aggressively not social distancing? I'm currently stuck in right wing hell with my old dad and my wife who is compromised. I'm the only one who goes to the store. Assholes without masks walking by real close in the store, dude holding the door open with a dare in his eyes, shiat like that.

Most of the social anti-distancing I've seen has been caused by people just not paying attention.  Even during normal times people would stare at their phone and walk straight into a lamp post.  Earlier today I was standing in line outside to pick up an online order for takeout and a woman and 3 or 4 kids all speaking Spanish came up behind me.  I understand enough Spanish to know that she told the kids to wait at the social distancing marker because that's where you wait in line, and the kids were pretty good about it.  But then I had to step forward to show my ID to pick up my order, they moved into my spot in line, and I had nowhere to stand.  This wasn't an intentional thing, they just weren't thinking.
