(New York Daily News)   The NFL has been a little slow on felony arrests lately, but DeAndre Baker of the Giants and Quinton Dunbar of the Seahawks just made up a lot of ground   (nydailynews.com) divider line

2of12: I just, um, I just cannot wrap my head around this one....

The way I read it, Baker had some stuff stolen from him by the people he held up (or their friends) a few nights before. He hatched a plan to get even and since he knew the guys he probably figured those guys were unlikely to report anything because they probably have trouble with the police and he'd get something back from them.
Baker likely didn't go to the police himself because the culture he is from probably deals with things like this between themselves. Obviously his fame means the guys he held up, likely the ones who started the entire thing, get the last laugh.

I imagine this type of thing happens all the time in the area it occurred, you just generally don't hear about it or people typically don't call the cops over it. But it's also how people wind up getting shot.

I like the person admitting that their watch is a knockoff.

Prediction: Considering the value of the stolen goods, it is going to turn out that they robbed other NFL players.

Ron Rivera is looking like a good judge of character, at least in this particular case.

My broke ass is amazed that a knock-off watch can go for $600.

Even if I won Powerball, I wouldn't buy ridiculously expensive watches.

Besides, I would probably lose that Rolex sooner or later, and then be pissed off about it

Hell, I was mad when I thought I lost a watch that retails for about $100....and it was a gift from my company.

Dammit, when I said the Dunbar trade was a heist I was speaking metaphorically.

So the starting RCB job goes back to Tre Flowers, who was last seen getting abused by Davante Adams in the playoffs. But that game aside, I thought he had actually shown progress in his second season and was impressive for someone with so little experience -- he played safety in college. His big problem is DPI calls of the "you need to get your head around" variety; face guarding isn't a penalty, but the fact remains that if you lay a finger on a receiver while facing away from the ball, they're calling it every time. Hopefully he can work on that. Otherwise, he's looked pretty good -- adequate cover skills and probably the best ball skills on the team.

Since Dunbar had slot experience, my best guess was they planned to start Dunbar on the outside in the base defense and then slide him inside in nickel situations, with Flowers taking over outside. So now the team is back to needing a nickel corner, which was also their big problem in 2019. Ugo Amadi, a fourth-round rookie in 2019, could get a look.
