To be fair, you really need to have a high IQ to understand inside references like 9/11 and Pearl Harbor.

Really?  That's the line for them?  Pearl Harbor and 9/11 is the bridge too far?  That's at least the second 9/11 joke in the series so far, anyway.

Maybe they can stick to jokes about Indian reservations, and Mexican immigrant death camps since no one gets their fee fees bruised over people of color getting raped on American soil.

There are so many 9/11 jokes now. It's all over the place. And we're technically still 3.8 years away from it being considered "okay" to make those jokes (going by South Park). Hell Seth McFarlane had Family Guy joke about it in 2008 when James Woods stole his identity so he talked about making a 9/11 comedy and it's "like two pies in the face, and one in a field in Pennsylvania". And Seth was supposed to be on one of the flights!

This season has been fairly boring though. Bring out some Evil Morty and more tales from the Citadel.

Abraham Lincler wasn't enough in episode 2 or 3? As the fandom grows, do people not go back and watch the earlier episodes?

Good thing they didn't make jokes about an avocado blight.

"Rick & Morty" has truly, truly sucked this season. Season 3 was only barely passable (though I like "Tales from the Citadel" a lot).

The writers are phoning it in. The show is just boring and stupid now. Plus, they've gone overboard with throwing the "f-word" around. I don't mind swearing at all, but they're just lazy with it.

I keep watching it, hoping it will pick up, but I don't think it will.

Ow! That was my feelings!: [Fark user image image 850x566]

Rick is smart. He is a fictional character. That doesn't make the show smart, or it's viewers smart. He's just a character on a tv show.

I'm not knocking the show or the viewers. I watch the show. Love the show. But I'm not protesting over McDonald's chicken nugget sauce.

Particularly since the sauce was a diversion for his interrogator while Rick hacked the mind control. That episode is basically The Usual Suspects, and idiots went gaga over the coffee beans Verbal said he picked.

That's one of my favorite episodes. Mainly because of Nathan Fillion and his impression of Rick as a Bug Person. Also a big fan of S2 finale because it's one of the best uses in media of NIN's "Hurt".

That was in a Truly Tastes Jokes book I had.

There were tons of jokes.

Christy Macualiff said to her husband the day of the flight "You feed the dog, I will feed the fish".

What color were her eyes?  Blew. One blew left, one blew right.

You know they thought they found part of the black astronaut?  Turned out it was just the tail pipe from a 78 camaro.

How is "ask the Saudis" anti Islamic? They're only one Muslim majority nation of like fifty, and they're the specific one that trained, funded, and executed the attack in question.

Or is that a meta-joke since not being able to tell Muslim majority countries apart IS super racist?

Overall, it's a pretty good show. It doesn't deserve either the praise or scorn thrown at it. It's sort of like the original Clerks in a way.

Want a "smart" cartoon? Watch Venture Brothers.

It's an interesting thing (to me anyway) There was no internet, obviously.  No one would've told those jokes on TV immediately after it happened.  Probably no one on the radio; maybe Stern if you were in one of the few markets that got him at the time, but I doubt even that.

This has come up in conversations over the years and, no matter where you're from in the US, you heard those jokes.  And not 6 months or a year after when they published a new volume of Truly Tasteless Jokes but, like you said, in the first week.

Kind of crazy that the same jokes were able to spread to every school in the country pretty much immediately.  Like a virus (ahem), but faster.

People watch R&M and get outraged?
Hell, that IS the reason I watch--killer offensive humor from a non-caring genius. (Sanchez is a LOT like me, so that's why I dig it so much.)
I like the rude, don't give a fawk, offensive stuff. Notice Summer? She used to be offended at everything and is now so casual about it all.

Definitely a weird-feeling season. The consumerism one was good, but things aren't quite clicking.

BTW, noons should start with Morty's Mind Blowers

I don't know the details of their production, but I feel like they (and Venture Bros) need to start sacrificing a little quality for quantity.  In R&M's case I think it's the animation (particularly the gorgeous backgrounds); Venture Bros is the writing (specifically the convoluted backstories).

I'm not saying they need to crank out a full 20+ per season like The Simpsons. South Park has moved to just 10, but they're on a consistent schedule every year.

What would piss me off more that any tasteless joke they have to tell is if they cave in and apologize or worse, edit out offending jokes. We'll get enough of that now that Disney owns The Simpsons and Family Guy.
