Didn't Stern originally support Trump?

In a better world, when someone mentioned Trump or Stern the reaction would be "I wonder what happened to those guys?".

Neither did, it seems.

Harlee: Didn't Stern originally support Trump?

I don't think Stern ever supported Drumpf politically. In fact, he was a vocal Hillary supporter in 2016. In years prior, Stern liked having Drumpf on his show because he would answer any question and say a lot of stupid stuff.

This is where we're at.... holy f*cking sh*t.

Where's the meteorite?

Not really.  He was a frequent guest on the show but I think Howard always considered him a blowhard

Stern moved to Sirius so he could be as vulgar as he wanted, and he has toned it down in his later years. Drumf will never be fired (fully impeached) or resign because he will never admit he did something wrong.

so the answer is neither

I don't think people understand what giving someone like Trump a platform means. This is generally an American problem, so don't feel bad.

This is actually dangerous for Trump. Trumpers don't respect the opinion of journalists or scientists or really anyone who talks all uppity and makes them feel bad. That's why Trump can sucker them. He speaks their language. But so does Stern. Someone actually in the tribe talking bad about Trump is a thing that could actually splinter his support.

Harlee: Didn't Stern originally support Trump?

In the election Stern backed Hillary (presumably so she wouldn't have him killed, derp)

Previously Stern was friendly with Trump socially and like having him on his show because he would say anything that that popped in to his tiny brain. Kind of an "entertaining useful idiot"

One is a comedian, the other isn't.  Lenny Bruce was funny, Hitler wasn't.

Trump as a Brash, loudmouthed, jerk real estate developer is good radio.  Trump as a president is a catastrophe.  I don't particularly like Stern, but I can't really fault him for having the earlier incarnation of Trump as a guest.  Especially on a NYC-centric radio show.

No. He loved Trump as a guest because it made for great radio, that's all.

Stern enabled a lot of stupidity when he was on regular radio. We're reaping what he aggressively sowed.

It happened to Stern once already. That's why he's on SiriusXM Uncensored...

He's been fired multiple times. He just doubles his efforts and gets a better gig each time.

Getting fired isn't as scary as it sounds to most people. Both times I have stood up for something and been let go I ended up with a better position and more money. It helps that I usually go back and cherry pick the best people out of my old teams.

There is an infinitely bigger chance that Stern will say something that would essentially force his resignation. Nothing like that has ever happened to Trump and nothing like that ever will. There's never going to be a realization of a fever dream where he voluntarily resigns. He needs to be voted the f*ck out.

Trump won't dare tweet about Stern being mean to him. 1) Stern would rip him a new one on the air up, down and sideways in response. 2) Stern has all those older show tapes. On the other hand, Stern is not stupid enough to run for president (even when he ran for governor he dropped out when polls showed him ahead).

Stern knows who he is. He's an entertainer. Trump also is an entertainer (although I can't imagine how dumb you have to be to find him entertaining), but his ego convinced him that he should be the president of the United States, just because people might vote for him. I don't blame him for what he is, really. I blame everyone who thought it would be entertaining to make that dumbfark the leader of the free world.

Harlee: Didn't Stern originally support Trump?

Stern kind of considered Trump a friend, but has been pretty vocal that he should not be President. He said something along the lines that he was going to really hate the job once he realized the fun part of campaigning for it was over and it starts to dawn on him that he has actual responsibilities.

Exactly what Stern said. He doends hate Trump. He hates the voters who put Trump in office.

Stern's schtick for years (back to the 90s... the early 90s) was that he was too crass, too vulgar, so much that he could be thrown off at any moment. It was just that though, an act. He was always an actor, but what he did best was manipulate people to believe he was more than he was (including the Neilson ratings system, but that's another dissertation).

Trump in many ways is exactly like Stern, an actor in the business and political world, playing the part. Like the early days of Stern, people that like him pay attention for x minutes, people that don't like him pay attention for xxx minutes.

Stop paying attention to him and all of his power disappears.

He had him as a guest on his radio show. Like every other guest. Yes.

They are similar in lots of ways except the one who isn't president is smarter and has some integrity.

You can say the same thing about Joe and Mika.  They had 45* on their show a lot because they wanted the entertainment and the ratings.  But they should have known it would blow-back.

I thought one of the big reasons for dropping out of the Governor's race was because he had to release his taxes and other personal/financial disclosures that were required.

I'm not too familiar with Stern, but I suspect he'd light a homeless man on fire if he thought the ratings would work out in his favor.  He's just good enough at it that he can look more than 30 seconds into the future. I'm not gong to give him THAT much credit for 'tegrity.

Stem giggled when Trump described walking in on half naked teenage girls with impunity. Howard Stern is, first and foremost, a misogynist, and he has not released the Trump tapes he said he had three years ago. Fark that POS.

This. Elevating the opinions of assholes because they're supposedly the only people "brave" enough to stand up to someone is the reason we have Dumpy the Orange-Faced Walrus as president.
