George Allen, a former Republican governor of Virginia who now serves on the conservative Heritage Foundation's National Coronavirus Recovery Commission (or MACACA for short.)

Why would anyone care what this racist thinks?

A rare case from the days when one of these assholes could be held accountable for what they said.

Seems like the governors are a bit busy right now, what with doing the Federal Government's job and all.

2020-05-14 12:29:25 PM
I would send the lowest appointed GOP official I could find with a one-way ticket.

2020-05-14 12:30:10 PM
No, he wants attention and adoration. That's why each governor sits in front of a sign of how many masks and gloves "he" has provided them.

If a governor is doing well it's only because of Trump and his personal assistance. If a governor is doing poorly it is because they aren't following the Federal guidelines and if they are following the guidelines they were set by Fauci, blame him.

He should just have them engage in a Battle Royale and the winner can be King Governor and Associate Vice President.

Now that I have that out of the way, can't he get them on a videoconference? His house is infected, the governors have (his) work to do, and that's not their money being spent - it's OURS.

Now if I was a governor I'd be thinking more along the lines of being tossed under the bus by Trump if (when) shiat goes sideways. Then I'd politely decline the invitation, but would welcome him to hold a YUUGGGEEEE rallies with all the other Rethuglicans in the state, and their voters, without masks (masks are slavery) or social distancing (social distancing is communism), and offer to pay for the security.

The House of Representatives will no longer be of any concern to us. I have just received word that the President has dissolved the House permanently. The last remnants of the Republic have been swept away. The regional governors will have direct control over their states.

A videoconference wouldn't be enough.  You must arrive in person to genuflect and kiss the ring.

This would be a good opportunity for Lt. Governors to earn their salary and attend the pointless meeting with the morons while their bosses stay home doing actual work.

I suppose it's arguable, but Allen is probably the person responsible for turning Virginia blue.

Republican governors, I assume. I would hope no Democrat would go there, if only to avoid being exposed to the COVID, which is apparently rampant there.

No, they have to go or else Trump gets to hammer them with "see, we had a meeting to help *you* and the do-nothing Democrat governors couldn't even be bothered to SHOW UP! Low energy! Sad!" and the idiots in their states will hear that and be even more able to shift the blame to the Dems.

No, they don't HAVE to go. Nobody but his worshipers cares about his "trying to help." We know he isn't.

It's weird you don't know this already.

It's amusing that people think giving in to the mewling baby will keep him from shiatting on someone. It won't. He's proved it over and over. There's no profit whatsoever in giving him what he wants. He's demonstrated many times he's incapable of gratitude.

Leaving Democratic governors alone? Politico, have you not been paying attention to the douchebaggery Trump is engaging in by telling PA Republican legislators to rebel against Wolfe?

For the sake of all the farks, this article is trash, and Trump is trash.

Anyone not a troglodyte knows that meeting with trump is a waste of time.  He just wants to be able to scream at Democrats while the Republicans all fall over themselves to lick his tiny mushroom.

Trump isn't worth the effort or the risk of infection since they only just now thought masks were a good idea. In fact maybe his little hate rally in the white house will be good for that since trump doesn't wear a mask in order to avoid looking 'weak'.

I mean he is old, out of shape, and gets easily winded on staircases what could go wrong?

2020-05-14 1:45:38 PM
I thought the whole "you're on your own, suckas" plan was part of the long held conservative idea that authority was best wielded at the lowest possible level (in this case the state as opposed to the fed).

2020-05-14 1:56:54 PM
He wants their better polling numbers, and thinks he can gain public approval by associating himself with them.

He. Needs. Them. Not the other way around. My advice to any governor considering gracing him with their presence would be to make him crawl for it. And whatever you get for it, get it up-front.
