Why are republicans voting on a subpoena? Republicans have publicly stated Congressional subpoenas have no power can simply be ignored.

I bet there is a caveat to that rule.

Something about it being ok for some people

He should claim executive privilege. Advice to a future President needs to be unvarnished and reliable.

Only if they're being used for political reasons to harass the president. Harassing a presidential candidate for political reasons is still entirely acceptable.

Easy peezy, Hunter can say he was just doing research on Russian adoptions. He'd release the records but they are being audited for accuracy and once the audits are concluded he will share them.

Well, you can't pretend someone is guilty of something until you begin an "inquiry" into their possible "wrongdoing."

The beauty part is, you don't have to find anything. Because many people are so stupid, they think being investigated by the Republicans means you must have done SOMETHING to deserve it. And if nothing is found, they get to pimp the "conspiracy" that let you get away with terrible crimes.

None of this, of course, applies to any Republican, especially the current president, who is the most innocent innocent to ever innocent.

They don't even need to ask him anything, just keep hammering that he used his connections to get a phony baloney job that few Americans, much less a crackhead who smoked himself out of the Army, would have the privilege of being given.

And, last I checked, Americans aren't ready to forgive Aunt Becky yet for using her connections for her talentless child, so what chance does Biden have if this goes mainstream?

That reminds me, you never responded to the allegations of you having set a nun on fire in 2005. A lot of people are talking about it, and your continued silence is DEAFENING.

Of course they haven't. The plan is to throw shiat at the wall until something sticks.

Unfortunately for them they're throwing rabbit shiat, and that shiat bounces.

The correct answer is "No" and "What are you going to do, beat me with your badge?"

And if the Senate then jumps to inherent contempt, the House sends the Sargent-at-Arms over to Justice and drags Barr into the chamber in cuffs.

I'd love for them to subpoena Obama, and for him to go full Trump.

They are going all in on ObamaGate this afternoon: that Biden is on the list of Obama era officials that may have requested the unmasking of Flynn. You know, for making a phone call to the Russians about how they should conduct foreign policy. A call the Trump administration maintains it did not approve him making nor were they aware he was going to make and he lied to them about making. The fact that they didn't protect his identity on the call from investigators was the greatest political crime of all time per political figures putting out statements today.

And then claim he has absolute authority under Article II, just like the current President.

FTFY.

The only thing I'm looking forward after July is the potential for Hunter Biden to debate Trump Jr.

Trump Jr. would be totally unable to handle it. It would be hilarious.

Hunter Biden should just tell them that he is ready to testify and is tomorrow OK.  This would scare the Republicans to death as their plan is to drag this out to the election.  The last thing they want to do is have it done now.

Because what are Republicans going to do, be exposed as hypocrites and just not care about it?! That would be unprecedented!

To be clear and just so I understand....

At the absolute very worst, Biden's son got a plum job because it was presumed that that might buy influence with the then Vice President.  That's what we have in probably the least charitable reading of the situation.

Meanwhile the current President put his son in law in charge of pandemic force that has led to 80,000 US dead.  I'm not even sure I can come up with a most charitable reading of that situation other than 'Well it's not 100,000 US dead yet!'

And how did "Sure, that's bad, but Trump did the same thing and worse!" work as a 2016 strategy?

Or to build "plausible case" as to why a whole bunch of people voted (R) in November (especially in places with GOP Secretaries of State and/or electronic voting machines) even though the exit polls showed the opposite.

So how much control can we expect Joe Biden to exercise over his adult son? Trump's kids work for his company and in his administration. Hunter Biden took a job with a company that his father does not own and has no control over.
