If we'd followed that, we'd have been in phase 2 back in early January.

The bottom of page 17 is also damning.

I don't see anything in there about what to do if the government ditches the playbook and decides to wing it based on the whims of an incompetent man-child.  Therefore, it's all Obama's fault.

Marcus Aurelius: The bottom of page 17 is also damning.

This?

U.S. Bilateral Relationships How strong are the U.S. Government and other bilateral diplomatic relationships?

is there a USAID, CDC, USDA, HHS, or DOD presence on the ground, with appropriate authorities, and who is best positioned to be a technical interlocutor with Ministry of Health? STATE, USAID, HHS (coc, ASPR, OGA), DOD, USDA

Note: U.S. government relationship with the host government will impact the US ability to provide assistance, obtain important public health data, and/or cooperate on outbreak issues.

They probably had it in digital form, and Jared opened it in January and did a CTRL+F for "COVID-19" and got zero results, so he moved on to his main priority of solving how many licks it takes to get to the chewy center in a Tootsie-Roll Pop.

Well, at least that would be useful. Even the owl can't tell us. You have no idea how many hours of sleep I lost trying to figure it out.

Right? The playbook is for losers. If we had followed the playbook, America wouldn't have the high score right now.

With Trump's leadership, we're in great position to break 100,000 points by the end of the month!

I know you're making a joke, but every response that's been a joke about how and why the administration has failed is probably an accurate depiction of what went down. The clown shoe levels of these chucklefarks is well above anything we could have imagined

Yeah I'm glad trump is doing so well, good thing he disregarded the page of the playbook where it said "do nothing for 4-5 months after being notified of a pandemic" luckily trump skipped a month ahead and got right on top of this thing within 3-4 month of it being obvious to the entire world.

I mean technically I haven't read the playbook, but am I to believe alien robot would just lie to me on Fark? Of course not so there must be something in the playbook that Trump is doing better than.

Was it entirely preventable? No. Could a lot of the damage been avoided? After seeing this, fark yes.

This is why you GOP bootlickers who railed about Benghazi are so utterly full of shiate. We're at over 20,000 Benghazi's. Over 25 '9/11's. More US casualties than the friggin Vietnam War. Trump willfully disregarded and avoided what would have saved tens of thousands of lives and trillions in economic damage-for what?

Fark you MAGAts. History should be merciless when describing the cult of Trump.  You know what infuriated me most about this is-like the playbook left behind, all you 'pro-life, pro-God, pro-country' jerks are willfully ignorant. You'd rather see this toddler have his Twitter fights, alienate our allies, imprison immigrants, bail out the billionaires and leave the farmers to die, rack up trillions in debt, and destroy every institutional principle of our government set by the founding fathers. Yeah, nice job-hope that stigginit is worth all these losses because of your damn clown of a leader and the spineless senators and congressional representatives.

Money and power. The leaders of the GOP care about nothing else. They feed the disgruntled masses enemies for distraction and rob all of us blind to build a base to add a veneer of legitimacy to it. But I have to smirk at how arrogance of 'being untouchable' is out the window when they meet a foe they can't pay off or threaten. May they choke to death. A shame so many others are forced to join them. But when they finally gasped their last breath all I would say is 'stay dead motherfarker.'

I disagree.  The situation we are in right now was entirely avoidable.  We might have had a cluster or two, as we did with Ebola, but there's no way this would have washed across America with Clinton or Obama at the helm.

I don't know.

Would it have been handled better? Beyond any possible shadow of a doubt. But would we have actually stomped transmission out and had only some regional outbreaks?

Extremely doubtful.

Evidence now indicates that this had entered sustained transmission in Wuhan long enough before december 1 2019 that it had reached the USA by mid-december 2019.

I would take Germany as the reference for "the best and most effective gov't response the US could've hoped for." And they were still hit from all sides so fast there was no chance of stopping it.

The one advantage the US has of course is, we can halt air travel and that will buy us several weeks IF it hasn't reached us yet. But all evidence is that it already had long before any POTUS would have taken such a drastic step.

The only player who could've won the game would have been China, and it's a very good bet that THEY didn't realize the severity of it until it was too late either.

Yes, but with the measures they put into place it would have resulted in l them not being reelected. The Trumpers, with Fox News parroting the claims, would have said it was a "jade helm" takeover and they destroyed the economy.

The Obama Administration left behind a pandemic playbook.  But, would you willingly accept a playbook left behind by your mortal enemy?  Of course not.  It's a trap designed to make you follow it into absolute failure.  So you trash it and develop your own playbook.  Which is why we have achieved our current level of success. Winning!

Yeah, but once the Alpha Teams were in place, people probably would have become placated enough (by denial and fake vaccines) that Phase Two, involving a military buildup on a scale not seen since the second World War, would never be implemented.

By the way, when does Yonkers happen??

If Obama really wanted to help, he would have given Trump a map to the tunnels connecting all the Wal-Marts. That's where the PPE and vaccines are.
