Movie night! 🍿

2020-05-08 5:25:48 PM
I saw it when it originally aired (it's a made-for-tv movie) and features Grayson Hall, who played Dr Julia Hoffman on Dark Shadows.

I have seen this!

In 1972.  So I don't remember much.  I was eleven.  It scared me.  Talking statues, gaaah!
I had just gotten over my fear of statuary when f'in Dr. Who showed up with Weeping Angels.

Should be fun looking forward to it!

I figured most of Fark would be watching the John Wick stream.

Movie is as cheesy AF as were many of the 1970s made-for-tv movies. Giving this one the MST3K treatment should be a blast.

I caught this one on late night cable in the mid-90s (TNT, USA, something like that) and have to say that riffing your way through a first-time viewing is definitely going to be a treat - enjoy!!

"come join us"

No disrespect intended, but I *wish* I had time to waste on shiat like that.

I've seen my wick stream into the John plenty of times already today.

I've got 5 cans of my Nocturnal Creatures 13%ABV dessert stout.

I'll be there with Belzon!

Haven't seen it before? How is that possible?

Well, between this & the Wick movie, I expect I'll be the only one in the Smackdown comments.

I think i saw this one once.  I don't remember anything about it.

Saw this a couple of years ago on Svengoolie.  Scary, but the bits with Sven were funny.

I saw this when I was 11 too, except that was in 1990.

Scared me then.

As I recall, 8-year-old me was not all that scared by this movie. The gargoyles looked pretty cool, though. I seem to remember the head gargoyle doing a lot of posing and smirking.

2020-05-08 7:04:03 PM
My biggest memory about the movie is that one of the characters isn't supposed to know what a gargoyle is, so he calls them "those gar-things".  That's a strange thing to remember about a movie I watched as a kid in the 70s.

(My local station often snuck the movie into its Godzilla monster movie blocks, and I was too dumb or stubborn to change the channel.)

What drugs were they on in the 1970s?  That made Plan 9 look like The Shawshank Redemption!

Minor historical point: Back in the 70s', low budget horror films were a flimsy excuses to take a date to the local drive-in.

The movie was a pointless distraction.

What made the movie was Bernie Casey as the Alpha gargoyle. He was just so perfect in that role.
I wonder though,why hasn't there been a remake?
