Trump has no plan and no foresight. This is how he operates and has always operated.

He makes stuff up as he goes along and he thinks he's a genius. Whatever the current circumstance is, he puts the best spin on it that he can, never mind if it's truthful or not. When you give trump several outcomes that could happen, he will always latch onto the scenario that turns out best for him and then assume that's the outcome.

I can only imagine Trump as a leader throughout historical events.

On The Great Depression: "Those jobs will be back, and very soon, very soon, if'll be like a short vacation, you'll go out, enjoy yourselves, and be back to work wishing it lasted longer, believe me."

On World War II: "I've talked to Mussolini, Hirohito, and Hitler, we had a great talk, it was a perfect conversation, they're good people, we're gonna talk this thing through and this war will be over in no time, believe me, they want this to be over as much as I do, and we're gonna come to an agreement, we'll make great deals, I'm an incredible deal maker, and America will come out ahead."

On Vietnam: "We're gonna bring all our troops back, believe me, this will be over before you can blink."

On the eventual supernova of the sun: "It's nothing to worry about, it's not even an issue.  We're gonna build a wall, a big, beautiful wall to keep that sun from swallowing us."

We had Herbert Hoover from 1929-1933. He took office in March and the whole thing started to fall apart in October. 4 years later, FDR had completed his first 100 days in office with a New Deal for the American People. Notice that it took FOUR years. Hoover was just as bad as Trump.

WWII: Got nothing on this one. Probably.

Vietnam: Nixon won on this rhetoric.

The sun going supernova: That's about spot on. After he's quietly invested the American treasury in space travel and then suddenly decides he is going to 'test' one of the ships.

By ignoring a problem (virus) early on because he was worried about the economy, he has crashed the economy to a level that would have probably not happened if he took the responsible approach early on regarding the virus.

There IS nothing to worry about the sun going supernova.  The sun is far too small, it will eventually become a red giant and then create a planetary nebula with a white dwarf in the center.

Our local university (Cornell) is facing over 100 million dollars in losses and has instituted a hiring freeze and possible layoffs that will probably continue through 2021, despite a 7 billion dollar endowment (which can't be used to mitigate COVID losses for various legal reasons, according to the university). I'm sure most colleges and universities are in the same state. I've heard similar things about museums, non-profits, and corporations. Many small businesses are completely broke and will not reopen when the pandemic passes. High unemployment is here to stay.

I think anyone out of a job right now *knows* that all those jobs aren't coming back soon.  In fact, I bet most of the country knows, and only those MOST steeped in the MAGAverse actually believe they'll be back "very soon".  Which kind of makes him look foolish to most people, hyping up an obvious lie or wishful thinking.

Like, repeatedly saying this might ACTUALLY hurt his chances a bit, compared to a lot of the other stuff he usually reflects.  It's too obviously more hopeful than anyone who wasn't an idiot or didn't think WE were idiots would say in such a situation, which many people are gonna keep in the back of their minds even if they're trying not to.

That, and the whole, y'know.  Friends and current/former coworkers dying or sickening from it from now through November.  Cause there'll be a whole lot of that, and even if they hide the COVID tests that'll just mean friends and family/coworkers say "we think it was COVID but we couldn't get a test", which looks even worse.  Fark all of this.

The Taj Mahal opening and eventual bankruptcy. Which also took down two of his actual profitable casinos which were run by men not named Donald Trump. Then they died in a helicopter crash and the man started claiming he was supposed to be on that helicopter. Which I think he also started overlapping it with 9/11 at some point. Oh yes, and to this day he still blames those dead men for the Taj Mahal for failing when they were kind of DEAD at the time.

What we really need to help America get through this is one specific COVID-19 death.  Maybe two.

I'm laughing my ass off at all of the 'small business owners' whining on Facebook right now about how they're getting their shiat ruined by this new economy.

These idiots really thought that they had a seat at the elite table.  It's like they deluded themselves into thinking that owning 'Jojo's Bait N Tackle Shop' put them in the same league as the CEO of Exxon.

They're trapped in a world they don't even know they're in.

They wanted a vicious 'Winner Takes All" society.  They got it.
