I'm sure it'll be similar to the embrace young Republicans have given the LGBT community, in which they went from "I farking hate you" to "I don't give a fark about you".

I believe it's called "Libertarianism".

If you're going to be evil, you should commit.  This having our cake and then not immediately screwing everyone else for temporary gain isn't cutting it.

I used to watch cartoon fiction and find the villains unbelievable because their motive was always "I'm going to destroy the earth muahahaha!" And that was the whole motive.

And now, it turns out, there really are people like that. Entirely motivated by no reason whatsoever, just as long as others suffer.

Our political system is all about providing multiple options," Myles said.

I am pretty sure this is not our political system.

We've been doing a very slow response to climate change already. It's working out great!

Cheese that smells like shiat or shiat that smells like cheese, it's your decision.

"Myles, a junior studying political science and economics, has joined the American Conservation Coalition, which last month unveiled its American Climate Contract, a self-described response to the Green New Deal for the political right."

Reminder:

The Individual Mandate was the GOP's response to "Hillarycare", until Democrat's actually adopted and they immediately turned on it. The only purpose it had was to pretend the GOP had a plan for addressing they issue, albeit one they had no intention of actually putting into action.

Cap and Trade was the GOP's response to environmental legislation, unto the Obama admin tried to implement it, then it became "SOCIALISMS".

This is almost certainly the same. They need to look like they have a plan, so they make some shiat up and jam it full of freedumb buzzwords so they can pretend they have an alternative to te Green New Deal, with no intent of ever implementing even their watered down "conservative" plan.

Over and over and over they've shown themselves to be disingenuous bad faith actors. Every time.

Some conservative think tank types have landed on a carbon tax.
Which actually would reduce emissions and improve our energy infrastructure substantially.
But not these guys.
Their plan is all, "let's plant trees!"
Won't count for anything.  Even if they do it.

The only people who should be joining the Young Republicans either have a Roman numeral after their name or a serious mental disorder.

/often both

without sacrificing traditional GOP principles like market competition and limited government.

It's so cute how they think those are still guiding principles of the GOP. If they ever were.

I got a Roman numeral in my name, and I suppose that being on Fark is a mental disorder, but I'm not a Young Republican in the slightest.

It takes a special caliber of problem-solver to acknowledge the issue of increased heatwaves and dangerous localized weather instability, look at our very recent past with enormously destructive wildfires in California, Australia (hell, even the firestorm that tore through their backyard in Gatlinburg a few years ago), and finally come up with the solution there's not enough trees.

Classic Fark independentTM.  Doesn't like Democratic plans, but provides zero alternatives.  Claims to dislike Republican politicians and be a libertarian, but votes Republican.

Fark off.

I mean, you can't blame them. How many have ever experienced 100+F degrees without air conditioning? I mean, these Republican children aren't exactly Swamp People types, right?

Heat waves are for the little people. The entire point of being Republican is to embrace the narcissism as your Lord and Savior, and reject altruism as Satan.
