shiat's gonna get bad if he gets reelected.

We can probably still pull out of this nosedive if we can make it to January. If Trump's not out of office then, we're farked for decades.

Men who swear oaths to uphold the constitution, can kill you with one finger, and have security clearances already are vetted.

This behavior on the part of the president is disturbing, should be investigated, and he should be questioned, in private, by competent interrogators who are trained in extracting verifiable truths.

Top men.

Why couldn't it be hot chicks in power armor with flamethrowers?

You mean Biden should make the CIA kidnap Trump and send him to CIA black sites and waterboard his ass for a month till he says nothing but the truth, every single time he talks, that he admits all his crimes on live national tv before ending his life in prison for those crimes, right?

I hate to say it but there's just no stopping him.

He blocks people from testifying, Barr is working as his personal lawyer, he blocks people from testifying, we still haven't seen the full Mueller report or his financial records, never released his taxes, he got impeached but not removed from office, they're dropping the case against Michael Flynn, now this Pentagon thing; it just goes one and on and on.

He's either going to try to stop the election or declare the election rigged or a hoax if he loses, even if it's by a huge landslide, and his followers will go along with whatever he says.

He gets away with everything. There's no reason to think that's going to change.

From the story

"He is pushing to replace and remove civilians in OSD [the Office of the Secretary of Defense] that are not aligned with the White House"

Meaning Trumps man is going after the non military members of the OSD who won't bow to his demands.  They are not going after the active duty military members.

The senate is the body that Certification of the electoral college votes.  So what happens if Trump loses big in the EC but the Rep keep control of the senate.  What happens if Turtle refuses to let the senate Certification of the electoral college votes.?

The fact that flamethrowers even exist is a testament to human nature.

Someone, somewhere, said to himself, "y'know, I wanna set that person over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done." Carlin pointed this out, but I don't remember his exact words on the matter.

I think that ship has sailed.  They've had a huge impact on the court systems and huge swaths of career civil servants have left (e.g. State Department) taking with them a lot of knowledge capital and inside relationships that took decades to establish.  They've also damaged credibility abroad (in terms of things like trade, treaties, etc.), because any illusion of stability the US projected is gone.  Any foreign country has to consider that they might be no more than a few years away from a complete 180 on the approach of the US as a 'partner'.  On top of that, the last few years have shown the GOP that when they're in control, anything goes, except the next time they're in control the administration leading them might not be completely incompetent.  We need serious reform both inside the government -- how the powers are balanced, etc. -- and outside.  The culture of the two party system is killing us.  I don't know what is feasible or allowed, but there should be more 'resolution' in terms of how representatives in government reflect the population (e.g. a spectrum of parties) and an election system that enables that.  Ranked choice voting is a start, and it'd be nice to have the coalition style government you see in the UK, Ireland, etc.

Phew -- anyhow, point being, even if everything goes blue, they can only do so much so fast working within the framework available.

Instead of focusing on stuff like this, shouldn't he be putting together an exit team? I'm sure there's quite a bit of crap he needs to prepare to hand off to someone that actually wants to lead and govern.

LOL.  the only way trump is putting together a exit team is if he lose. and then that  exit team is going be less getting stuff ready for the new income pres and more taking anything not nailed down and trying to destroy anything that would be trouble for trump.  as well as planning on how to get him out of the country to avoid charges. And that is not counting trump and the rep senate trying to ram threw as many crappy laws/etc as they can in that last 2 months or so.

What we need is a solid decade of Democrats taking every office... every school board, city council, mayor, state legislature, judgeships, let alone every federal office. Let it get big enough to naturally fracture in to the conservative and progressive parties we actually need. Then we can actually start the process of reform across this country... and it would take years in the best scenario.

Republicans are no longer a conservative party by any measurable definition - they're nothing but a regressive and pro-oligarchy party. However, between AM radio, cable TV, and the internet... they have 50 million people checking their blocks on ballots because they genuinely and sincerely believe anyone else isn't just wrong, but legitimately evil.
