I know I'm going to go COVID house shopping once I can.  I was on the absolute wrong end of the 2008 fiasco.

CSB time: In 2009, I bought my house for $150k from the bank that held the loan of the previous owner (Deutsche Bank, amusingly).  The previous owner (possibly "owner"; who knows exactly what type of BS loan he had) paid $400k in 2005.  At least prior to the Coronavirus, it was worth at least $400k again.

Never knew houses could go on triple clearance like an out of season sweater in a department store.

Smart idea.

I said something similar to this last week on Fark and was called a "Parasite".

Have housing prices dropped in your area? There's been no movement here. Everyone is holding their breath hoping for more favorable conditions.

Nope.  Not yet.  Made an offer last weekend that was about 16% below asking.  They countered with a 3% price reduction.  I told them I'd pass.  I think there's a disconnect between the current/upcoming environment and what prices were 8 weeks ago.  Figure I'll just (try to) be patient and wait for prices to start coming down.  Since I'm not in a rush, I'll just try to hold tight for now.

Sometimes that's easier said than done though...

I'm saving for 12 months before I start looking. It's only getting worse.

Same. Two years here. Some of it out of financial necessity, but the sooner I make smarter decisions, the better the house I can afford later
