To the list of things about which nothing will be done.

Trump thinks putting his name on the checks will make recipients grateful.

But more likely reaction is to notice (a) how pathetic the amount is and (b) how long it took to deliver it.
And then associate that with Trump

Unless you are charging him, you are condoning him.

Well... yeah.  What's the point of being President if you can't abuse your position?

That spineless reach-across-the-aisle-like-it-was-30-years-ago Grampa Joe will ignore in the spirit of bipartisanship, which no longer exists.  I can't believe this is our Walter Mondale to put up against an incumbent.

It's only a crime if the law gets enforced, and Republicans have said they have no intention of enforcing the law when it comes to other Republicans.

"Approximately 62 million people were still waiting for the payments as of April 17. "

Wow. I had no idea this many people were still waiting on the checks..

"Not later than 15 days after the date on which the (Treasury) Secretary distributed any payment to an eligible taxpayer pursuant to this subsection, notice shall be sent by mail to such taxpayer's last known address."

Instead of wasting resources sending out a letter with this bullshiat why not use them to send the paper checks earlier to the people that have to wait forever-weeks to receive them?  The staggering amount of idiots in charge in the present day is staggering.

Me either. The site just says it doesn't have my info.

The thing that makes me want to punch Trump in the face is how he acts like he didn't know about it and boy what a delightful surprise that must be to recipients!

He could run over Lawnmower Boy with Woodchipper One and still be politically sound.  Even the Dem Congress Crotters have given up.

My mother received her letter on Friday and was so pissed that it had Trump's seizure of a signature that she wanted to mail it back in an envelope filled with cat crap.

I'm sure he's been stealing federal funds for decades.

I received mine - thinking I might donate all of it to Biden's campaign and mail the receipt to the White House.

Let Trump include a signed glossy 8 by 10 and you could easily get him to agree to a second round of stimulus.

2020-04-27 12:55:47 AM
Still waiting for mine. But, the idiotic website did let me enter my routing and bank info yesterday, as opposed to telling me I was a nonentity, so that's something?

2020-04-27 12:57:52 AM
Got the letter last week (Arkansas). I was confused as to why I got a letter from Trump, address from the IRS. Assumed it was about the stimulus, but...bleh

Still waiting as I had to re-enter my routing information after owing some cash. I might be a tad surprised if I ever get it. But I don't NEED it per say.

I got my my letter Friday. It comes in a "oh, s**t" envelope, from Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service. But to my surprise, it is a nice letter from our president and even signed by him. It starts out "my fellow American". I feel like I am loved by him. And with his signature it is truly a keepsake. I'm gonna frame mine. Do I want the black of the gold certificate frame? Decisions, decisions.

The discussion here isn't about receiving the stimulus money, it's about receiving the followup letter that Trump got his splooge all over because Trump is a piece of narcissistic crap that has no business putting his name on anything with authority because he's a  complete simpering asshole.

While I love to see Trump in cuffs and stuck in a jail cell. No matter what until hes out of office or the Dem win control of both the house and sent.  Its just not going happen.   We already seen that the Rep while in control of the sent won't remove him.  And the DOJ is saying their reading of the US con said a sitting pres can't be charged with a crime.

Now once hes out off office that another thing.  And there is only 3 ways that going happen.

1st.  he loses this election
2nd he wins and has to leave in 4 years anyways.
3rd.  he win the election but the Rep lose the sent and dem keep the house.  and they impeach him a second time with the votes in the sent to remove him.

For anyone that lost their income, Thank Donny Drumpf.
For anyone that gets sick or worse, thank Donny Drumpf.
For anyone that gets the stimulus, thank a federal tax payer.

The Americans smart enough to understand that were already voting against him.

The ones who aren't will probably frame it and proudly display it next to their commemorative coin collection and Thomas Kinkade painting.

According to the IRS my Trump Cheque is coming on Thursday, just in time for Month-End Close at the _C household. I entered my bank details the day the site went live, so not too long of a turnaround, considering.

Glad I don't have to get the physical cheque with his filthy signature, nor the letter. My in-laws can chuck the latter straight into the recycling whenever it finally arrives. But, even if it had come to me directly, I wouldn't think twice about cashing it. "Biting off the nose to spite the face" and suchlike - me being poorer doesn't hurt Trump.

Didn't you just say the other night you were in England?

Yep, they farked up the wording on the law pretty badly. Between the foreign income exemption of $100k each and foreign tax deduction, my wife and I look like paupers to the US government. We should each get the full $1200.

This is true for expats all over the world. So, instead of stimulating USA, Trump is giving money to Jakarta, Tokyo, London, Berlin, etc. Pretty generous of the American taxpayers to put money into the economies of other countries like this.

I want a news team to go out and ask Trump supporters, out of earshot of each other, why they voted for and still support Trump.
I want to know from their own mouths what they expect to gain.

To be fair, many expats do pay taxes to USA every year because of the extremely punishing rules on investing in foreign countries (basically, a mutual fund or ETF that isn't US-based is considered a "passive foreign trust" and you get taxed on gains and dividends on it as regular income instead of capital gains) so most expats keep invested in US based mutual funds and ETFs. Thus, they have USA income and pay at least some tax to the Treasury every year. Part of the few, the proud, the 53%.

Bennie Crabtree: No wonder you're a Republican. Damn, they bribe you good.

The original act proposed by Mitch McConnell had the cutoff based on total income - it was the negotiated version that changed it to AGI. So, I don't think this was the Republicans' doing. I think this was just one of those things that happen when a bill gets rushed and no one has a chance to do their due diligence. It's a bit like how a Shake Shack qualifies for grants as a "small business."
