Kemp is thinking, it is OK to kill off the black and the poors and on the plus side, cut back on unemployment payouts. My neighbor, a Trumper, went out to get her nails done Friday. Trumps base is gonna die off, she is 76 years old and has no idea of social distancing.

Story has all the earmarks of Angry C-Span Caller Syndrome.

Land line call termination reference.

Anonymous person on the other end of the call.

Poor grammar and punctuation.

We have a Facebook page for our little burb here in the Atlanta area. When this was announced by our pseudo-governor, one local restaurant posted they were opening up. Bad idea. They immediately took the post down after a hundred posts of "we'll never eat at any restaurant o,r shop at any store that opens too soon." Conservatives and liberals together. We also now have a list of businesses who have pledged to stay closed and the promise from all of us that we'll remember and patronize them for doing the right thing.

Multiply this times a hundred neighborhoods in five surrounding counties of the Metro Atlanta area.

Kemp is going to be forced out of office for this.

It has been said of mainland China that nobody should believe reports that coronavirus is under control there until three things happen:

1. Neighbouring countries re-open their borders to non-essential travel from China.
2. Schools and universities re-open nationwide.
3. The rubber-stamp legislature schedules and holds its annual meeting.

Adapted to local circumstances, 2. and 3. would be a good rule of thumb for US states and Canadian provinces as well. If you have any choice, think twice about going back to work outside the home before your state representative or MPP does.

Most states require both parties have knowledge that a conversation is being recorded. The penalties for ignoring that tend to be pretty stiff.

That's one thing that separates GA liberals from others - we can be almost just as Fark you, we do what we want and you can't make us as right wingers. By and large, we aren't helpless and frail as people consider us to be on here.

Though I'm sure business in Forsyth and Cherokee probably will open up, out of deference to "daddy Trump".

Is there money involved? As much as I agree with the point you're making, the owners of those restaurants need money. You don't want them to open? Pay them for takeout or delivery. Give them an incentive to wait it out. They're probably farked if they open anyway because no one wants to go out until it's safe, but if they try it's because they're really desperate.

/and yeah, it should be the government supporting them until this is over, but we all know we're not there yet

The comment that sums it up for me was from a restaurant owner, I'm paraphrasing from memory, but it does make sense in a Republican political capital sort of way.

"The governor isn't being naive or hasty, this is calculated.  If Georgia is "open" then I am technically permitted to open my restaurant at full capacity.  Even if I don't do that because I care about the safety of my customers and employees, my landlord is now able to demand full rent, since I am not barred from opening.  Meanwhile my employees are now furloughed indefinitely on my nickel, or I have to fire them all.  At that point, since I'm not barred from opening their unemployment is on *my* tab, not the state.  They're doing this to punish the working class and small business owners who can't afford to pay them to stay home."

Basically it's a face-saving maneuver and yet another attempt to push the working class down at the expense of The Economy.

Should be fun reopening.  During my time in Atlanta the one thing which floored me was the vast amount of smokers there are.  I guess it's the thing to do when you're in a two hour commute and stuck on the Perimeter.

I work overnights so I haven't been able to see what all has changed down on I-75 south.  I still don't plan on doing anything other than commuting to and from work along with the necessary trips to resupply groceries.  It's been quite an ordeal to move to a new home during all this, but the move went off without any major issues.  I'm waiting for Henry County to have an outbreak because I haven't really seen where people are staying at home here.  The stores are full every day.

My resident facebook Trump-humper did the same, and posted a picture of him and his barber. Barber was masked, but my friend was not. I pointed out this discrepancy. He said, "Strict social distancing and masks required on entry. Except when in the chair."

So....the 30 minutes when someone is touching you, breathing on you (through a mask, but they ain't perfect), talking to you, etc., is when you don'twear a mask? His response, "they can't cut your hair if you're wearing a mask!"

He didn't get why I was confused.

Georgia doesn't. We're a single-party consent state. I can record our conversation without your knowledge. You can record our conversation without our knowledge. I can't record your conversation with Bob without at least one of you agreeing to it.
