lordjupiter: This is about starting their "boogaloo" fantasy civil war, likely fueled by Russian shadow entities that have already infiltrated the NRA.

So again Trump is doing the bidding of Russia in order to destroy America.

That this isn't obvious to everybody never ceases to amaze me.

Thats right. We are in fact trying to take your guns. And I hope you exercise your 2nd Amendment rights when the Feds come around.

Alphax: I Ate Shergar: What does the US gun lobby have against the lockdown anyway? Do they not realise that if millions of people die from the virus, there'll be fewer people either to buy guns or to shoot them at?

I think they're also against anything that reduces ammo usage.. like staying at home and not shooting people.

Yeah, March had no school shootings, so sales are way down.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens if the combined effects of the COVID-19 outbreak in Russia and the collapse of oil prices really seriously threaten Putin's survival, or even lead to his downfall.

I don't trust anyone who'd take over in that case any more than I trust Putin, but at the same time, I can't help thinking that it wouldn't be good in at least some ways.

Anyone able to replace Putin would likely be much worse, kinda the way things go over there. Name one example of Russia taking a step forward that didn't involve three steps backwards.

Mango Mussolini and his master, Foghorn Turtle, really screwed the pooch on this one.  There is a real possibility that both Trump and the GOP majority in congress vanishes this November.  This terrifies the NRA and gun industry.   Go have a look at Biden's website and read what he says about gun control.  He's not talking about idiotic confiscation schemes and such.  For the first time in a long time the Dems seem to have it right.   They key takeaway is that semi-auto guns will be regulated under NFA rules same as full auto.  The courts have repeatedly ruled on this.  Regulation is not an infringement.   Semi-auto guns will still be legal to own by the non-criminal and non-insane, provided those guns are registered with the feds.   I've advocated this very thing for years now.

There are also a lot of other common sense changes, such as outlawing 'private' sales under federal law.  No more 'gifts' of guns, no more Craig's List deals.

You can give up the ghost on liberals getting fond of gun ownership - generally, liberals loathe firearms and consider it to be a right wing concept, despite the fact that it may prove useful at times.

Oh, there are way more of us gun-toting liberal types than you think, and I guarantee you know more of them than you are aware of.  We just usually roll our eyes and keep quiet when gun politics comes up since, on this issue in particular, the most vocal true believers on both sides can be equally insufferable, and are the ones who end up setting the terms of the debate.

Well I have no way of knowing whatever other sketchy things Wayne LaPierre has been up to for the ~30 years he's been head of the NRA, but based on how things went down when Ollie North started pushing for more transparency, there's gotta be some serious dirt there.  Whether or not someone who knows where the (metaphorical) bodies are buried ends up going public remains to be seen.

Shiat, Bob Dole bailed on the NRA before LaPierre was even in charge.  I have a feeling you'll still be digging long after you hit the Cincinnati convention.
