(The Daily Beast)   Hey, remember that company Trump lobbied the Pentagon to hire to build his wall and the IG immediately opened an inquiry into them? Well the Army just issued a contract for them to build 800ft of that wall. That's right. 800 feet   (thedailybeast.com) divider line

Just 800 feet? Only 5,279,200 more to go.

It's good to be on the grift.

I wonder how much of a kickback you have to give.

For how much though? If it's in the millions of dollars, clearly questions need asking.

Indications are that it's about $8 million for 800 feet of wall.  Like you do.

People on Fark could build 800 feet of wall. Get the contract, Drew. Set for life.

2020-04-22 10:55:46 AM
Yeah, but at a cost of $4 billion.

2020-04-22 11:15:40 AM
7 million dollars
Now I'm hoping they gave Trump like 6.5 million dollar so when you add that actual cost of their build they have a real shiatty ROI

I have a good idea of 2000 ft thanks to GPS.

800 feet is ludicrously tiny.

2020-04-22 11:16:58 AM
Roughly $10,000 per linear foot. Your tax dollars at work.

2020-04-22 11:18:03 AM
Let me guess... they're going to drive a pickup over to the local Home Depot parking lot each morning and find some Mexicans to build it for cash and lunch?

$9,541/FT for a farking wall.

fark the DoD.

There is a Deep State, and it's fascists and grifters all the way down. Nobody - NOBODY who is still employed, enlisted, or commissioned by the US government at this point in the timeline should have a job on January 21st.

Scorch the earth.

Just texted him asking how much 800ft of metal fence costs. I hope he gets back to me.

I wish we could page the known Russian comerades to these threads to defend this stuff but they seem to avoid anything where they can't fling shiatbombs to distract from the blatant impropriety of everything trump does

$7,633,085 or $9,541.35 per LF. Now given the specs of this steel slotted wall, 9,500 does still seem high but it also doesn't necessarily account for how remote the installation area is and other incidentals. It could be legit, it could be excessively high. Without knowing knowing more specifics its pretty hard to tell, but questions do need asking.

I would be interested in this lucrative career of 50,000 per hour of work on a pointless project with no supervision.

Do I just fill out a form, or.....?  Is there, like, a Linked In group I have to join?

More farking absurdity from our absurdly corrupt administration.

Please, would someone please stop this planet at the next exit, and let me the Fark OFF?

Seriously.

I'm sitting here, crippled with anxiety, as we are still (after almost 6 weeks) trying to figure out how we are going to pay our $1800 rent, when neither my wife, nor I, have yet to receive a penny of UI.

And we live in WA!  Our state actually functions fairly well...

She's "paid" now, for this week, but the actual money is still not in the account and I've been "denied", again, since the system is so overwhelmed and just spitting people's claims out as fraudulent, rather than paying everyone (like Inslee said) and asking questions later.

When I read shiat like this, I seriously boil from the inside out.

Our whole way of life is corrupt and is designed to destroy regular people, while actual criminals like Trump are allowed to not only exist, but thrive off of their gridding and lies.

Fark.  This.  Shiat.

I just did some math and 800 FT is about 2.5 football fields long.

The international space station is just about 1 football field long and that freakin thing costs way more money than this wall.

None of them should have freedom on Jan 21st. Have the incoming Biden administration prepare their indictments ahead of time to be signed and executed the moment he takes the oath.

Democrats, you are going to lose my support forever if you pull that "let's move on for the sake of the country" BS.

The wall is a grift. It's a way for Trump to funnel tax payer dollars to his cronies.

By way of comparison, a brand new mile of 6 lane interstate highway costs, between $7M and $11M to construct, depending on nearby population and terrain.  So they're claiming this is between 4 and 7 times as expensive as brand new 6 lane interstate highway.

Every last person involved in this needs to end up in prison and their entire estate confiscated, along with a shiatload of other people doing similar misdeeds.  Otherwise this nation will never correct its direction.

lol, being snarky. Wild times that that could be read as a serious post.

Also an opportunity to post this image that I love. I never thought about how big the ISS was, but it's awesome to see this comparison to get an idea.

Yeah, but that 800 feet will be a square 200 feet on each side.

cubic feet.

The foundation is 10 feet wide by 10 feet long and 7 feet deep.  That's 700 cubic feet right there.  The remaining 100 cubic feet is the 5 foot by 5 foot fence/monument which is only 4 feet high but is absolutely gorgeous and sturdy as f$ck.  No Mexicant will be cutting through that.

$10,000 per foot. Are they building it out of money?

How much less would it cost to properly fund foreign aid so that there wouldn't be so many desperate people fleeing here?

Coated in diamond dust because they think it'll prevent it being cut through by a sawzall. Briliiant.
