An official in the Trump Administration lying?!?!?!?!

Color me not shocked?

I wasn't buying the official story from the begging. The longer this goes on, the more it sounds like your regular boring chain of command thing that somebody wanted to make public for motivations unknown.

The captain's real sin is caring more about his crew than the feelings of the administration.

He really wanted to get ahead in the 'lick Donnie's asshole' line

SHOCKED! But never surprised how fast Trumpsters and Trump will turn on the troops they allegedly so fervently support.

The sad thing is, even if he's reinstated, even if every print record is expunged, this episode will hurt him in the long run. This kind of high level flak - out in public, even though it appears he did nothing wrong, will hinder career progression.

I hope he gets reinstated. Can we "look into" the former acting SECNAV? Maybe HE could use some time in the brig, perhaps next to Cohen.

Apparently I'm getting BS fatigue from all these assclowns.

I don't know the inner workings of military brass, but I'd like to believe that this will ultimately help his career, not hinder it. A lot of the military seems to hate Trump, and this was pretty much the perfect scenario for them to get under Trump's skin and still remain spotless. They got to bruise Trump's ego, shine a light on his dangerous meddling with the chain of command, and make one of their captain's look like a farking hero.

For the record, I don't think Crozier set out to do any of that with his memo. He just wanted to fulfill his obligation to the people under his charge. But I bet there are more than a few brass in the Navy privately enjoying the humiliation this is causing Trump.

2020-04-16 10:54:21 PM
The Acting Secretary wasn't mad about how many people got sent the memo. He wasn't even mad about the alleged "circumventing the chain of command."

He was furious that he said anything about his crew members getting sick and blowing up Trump's fairy tale that Covid-19 was a hoax.

2020-04-16 10:54:25 PM
So 10 top Navy captains and admirals = "20 or 30 individuals", got it.

And which of THEM is pissed enough to have leaked it?

He's already a captain. Unless he angles for a political post, there's not much further for his career to go up.

So he's an O-6. While a lofty rank, there's still O-7, 8, 9, 10.  So technically he's just over half way to the top of his profession. I do not know if he's the admiral type or not but I have only met one person in my entire life who was a O-6 COL(P) and turned down the star. And that dude is a different cat.

Shooting the messenger is a time-honored military tradition, but in this case it will probably be OK to make an exception.

Sure, as a mere naval captain an aircraft carrier is pretty much end of the road till an admiral dies, but now that we have space force we can start retrofitting battleships and people's careers will REALLY start going up.

Yup, and given that the only people taking the Navy Secs side are Fox News, talk radio hosts, and Trump supporters, it's clear that the order to punish the captain was entirely political, and they know it is eventually going to come out that way.

Modly seems like the exact type of person he was accusing Crozier of being.

I imagine the crew of that boat would treat him with an epic amount of respect if he went back to it.

As an aside. Heard from the step nephew that was on it. He's holed up in a hotel room in Guam playing video games watching TV. Has tested negative. MPs drop by meals. One guy apparently broke quarantine and left his room. MPs are dealing with that.

Boat people love driving boats and dont want land assignments.

And being a naval captain is a different animal from being an army colonel or similar. Akin to being the commander of a small base.

There are still four ranks above him, including a number of roles that aren't largely political.

The email from Capt. Brett Crozier was sent to three admirals and copied to seven other captains, according to a copy obtained by the Post, contradicting former acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly's assertion it was sent to "20 or 30" people.

As far as I see, he did his job as a Commander due to a failure in the chain of command.

But what do I know, I'm just the cow they suck at, not one of the parasites who chap my ass.

I was stationed on a sub tender based out of Guam. There's stuff to do but it involves snorkel gear. Why someone would duck out of a military quarantine is beyond me. Sure it's basically comfy brig time, but there's really not much to do on Guam, especially if the dance and strip clubs are closed. When they catch him it will be uncomfy brig time.

"President Trump! It's an honor to receive you, of course, but... what brings you here on this unexpected visit?"
"...yes, it's a fine present, but... why a sword, sir?"
"...oh. Well, I'll just skip away while carrying it recklessly, shall I?"

And it's crickets from the fark independents that assured me Crozier was the worst threat to the US armed forces since Benedict Arnold. They have their updated marching orders, most likely on the front lines of the stay-at-home resisters. Godspeed and удачи, warriors

Those other captains copied could've also been on the Roosevelt. It's not Star Trek, there's more than one person holding the rank of captain on these ships. When I was stationed on the TR during the Gulf War, there was eight or ten of them. Ship's CO, ship's XO, Chief Navigator, Commander of Air Group, the commander of each air wing, CMO, I think the main dentist was an 0-6.

Former Acting Sec.Nav needs to pay for this.

Everyone who licks trump's tiny mushroom becomes slave to that pathological liar.  There is no cure other than a trip to the gallows for every single one.

When he is reinstated, I suspect he could stay the Captain of that carrier until retirement and be very happy, along with the crew that obviously loves and respects him.

Good god man, how do they decide which Captain is THE Captain? And do they all have to "go down with the ship?" Could you imagine how shiatty it would be as the dentist who has to sink because the Captain on the bridge rammed an iceberg? This is CHAOS. Hell, if the ship divides into 8 factions under each captain, does that even count as mutiny? Does their laundry get mixed up, or do they share the captain clothes? And does each captain get a Napoleon hat or what? If two captains combine so one is piggyback on the other, do they count as an admiral? This is so messed up.
